Thanks so much! I’m so happy I found out what was wrong. Now to start retraining myself how to squat properly.

Thank u so much May the universe bless u. . I thought it was only my anterior tilt causing this hip pain for long. . but now I know. It is impingement. Thank you so much for this very informative presentation! I am currently experiencing some anterior hip pain issues, and it has me sidelined from my regular activities. I have been having some pain in my hip for quite a while now, but I kept just ignoring it, and continuing with my regular exercise activities. Last week I was in so much pain that I ended up at the Dr's office. I am going to see a PT next week, and hopefully we can figure out what is exactly going on with my hip. I don't know if I have FAI, but it's a possibility. There is definitely something going on that my hip is not happy about! Again, many thanks for the information!

I feel a pinch/twinge in my right hip crease/top of femur but not my left side, also my hamstring feels much tighter on the right side and my glutes don't seem to fire as much as my left side...getting quite frustrated because I can't squat anymore without pain. Been trying to squat lately and it's been frustrating. When I widen my stance to shoulder width or wider I get intense pain in my hips and inner thigh that never really goes away. If I take a closer stance then I can't hit depth without my lumbar spine going into flexion.

We recommend the 90/90 Hip Lift for a majority of people. It helps us realign people into a more neutral pelvic/ femur alignment. Give it a go and let us know how you go. I would also recommend some directed core positioning work - Dead Bugs, Plank variations work well!

I was wondering, should you use a big inhale (IAP) also in your warm-up sets or just in your working sets? Doing it with the empty bar kinda feels like overkill.
@MelbourneStrengthCulture3 жыл бұрын
Great question, typically no, you wouldn’t need to. We say that your inhale intensity should match the barbell load. If you’re using 50% of your max, use 50% of what you need to create full stiffness.

awesome video. Shared this on facebook. I think I have the same problem and I've been trying to work on starting and bracing with a more neutral pelvis to help with my hip pinch. I also narrowed my stance a bit and pointed my toes more forward. Do you think that can create more space in the acetabulum since my hip pinch occurred more laterally? (Since pointing my feed more forward causes a slight medial translation of the femoral head inside the acetabulum)?
@MelbourneStrengthCulture7 жыл бұрын
Dluu22 thanks mate! foot stance is going to be completely individual, I would play around with different foot widths and toe positions until you find what's best for you. it is going to be a result of your socket shape. Dean Somerset talks about it in a video. ill try find it and link it to you
