Jesus born from spirit (Kalima) of God. Jesus in Bible and Issa in Qur'an is not same. Satan created Issa to cheat people. Jesus had the authority to forgive sin. But Mohammed taught to kiss black stone in Kabah to forgive sin. So Jesus is our saviour from Satan and sin. Jesus did not teach sex, lies Thakiya, hate, killing, nikha mutha etc... Jesus is holy. Jesus didn't teach a bar and a place of sex in heaven.

While I was reading Genesis in early pregnancy I came to the passage about Melchizedek and it inspired me to name my daughter Salem. It really called to me after reading he was not Jewish, yet still a worshiper of our Lord God, I was not aware that such people had existed before Christ. I completely settled on the name after reading that Salem had the connotation of peace (good thing my husband agreed that it was a good name!). He is a very interesting character, and the more I learn about him the more pleased I am with my daughter's name.

Another who worshipped God was Naaman the Syrian who was cured of leprosy when Elisha was prophet. Jesus referred to him in Nazareth when they refused to believe him and they were so offended at the thought that salvation was for anyone besides Jews that they were going to throw Jesus off a cliff. An interesting point about Naaman as an example of salvation not being under law but under grace was that as a servant of the king he had to assist his master while his master worshipped a pagan god, and Elisha excused him of guilt as an exception saying, "go in peace." And of course "peace" is "salem". We enter peace now by entering the heavenly Jerusalem, which is the Church, through the baptism which now saves us also.

Praise the Lord!!! Really good clarity on Melchizedek. It just adds to what I believe about the book of Hebrews and it’s purpose. Persecution was beginning around that time and many Jewish believers in Jesus began to go back to Judaism to escape and so the writer of Hebrews encouraged the believers to stay firm in the faith since Jesus is better than Moses and the Law and so on. David Pawson speaks about it in the “unlocking the Bible” series on Hebrews. Praying that those who call (and live for the Lord) continue to grow as one body with one mind and one accord!!

The way you Christians "find" Jesus in the Tanakh is this: You shoot an arrow into a tree. You then paint a bulls-eye around the arrow and call it a "prophesy." Unless you are studying Tanakh with Orthodox Jews - who are well versed in Hebrew, its root words, and its numerical values - you will *never* understand its true meanings. And you will definitely never find out that *nothing* in Tanakh foreshadows Jesus. A messiah? Yes. But you'll have to study with a rabbi to completely, and properly, understand who Moshiach (messiah) is supposed to be.

I get the feeling Heiser has spelt so much time in school that he's elevated scholarship. He even mentioned the "yahwist and elohist" authors of the Penteteuch as if it wasn't written by moses but by other people compiling moses' (or somebody's) old texts.. Yeah right. So much "higher critical" scholarship has destroyed faith and limited the Bible.
@mariemilycraig3 жыл бұрын
Heiser actually says exactly what Mike says in this video 😊 To the other commenter: when he mentions the 'yahwist and elohist' writers, he's most probably quoting other scholarship. He doesn't hold to the JEDP thing. He doesn't discount the possibility that there were editors involved, but that doesn't affect Scripture's inspiration: Heiser holds to the idea that God inspired and led all the people who were involved in the production of the text throughout time, so that what we have today is Holy Spirit-inspired Scripture.

Ah, I agree with your explanation of 'without father or mother, without genealogy' meaning it was left out of the text. The reason too I think is because genealogy was the very requirement for the Jewish priesthood of the line of Levi, the sons of Aaron. Saying that Melchizedek was without genealogy would have explained to the readers that he was not a priests as required in the Jewish line of priests. Love this discourse! The fact that the writer of Hebrews elaborates on Melchizedek so much has always fascinated me.

Thanks for that episode, Mike. It was very timely for me, I'm getting ready to lead our group through Heb 5 and this will help my study. (Now if you could get that Heb 6 info out here in the next couple of weeks, that would be greeeaaaaat.) I heard an interesting theory about the identity of Melchizedek. I don't put a lot of stock into it, but it's still interesting. The idea was the Melchizedek is actually Shem (not Shemp but Shem), Noah's son. The thought is that Shem could reasonably still been alive during Abraham's life and that he would have been someone who was known to many for his background.

Man, I'd hate to have a debate with this beautiful man lol He's so humble & objective at the same time. He'll tell you what he knows & he'll tell you what he doesn't know, how he perceives & interprets scripture, how he arrives at his conclusion & it's easy to understand where he comes from because he's just so damn forthcoming & honest. I just discovered you, Pastor, ab a week ago. I really appreciate all your honest, very in depth research you provide.. & with sources! I'd love to see a debate of yours. I'm sure you get alot of hate but they'd be hard pressed in a debate because of how honest & transparent you are. Couple that with your vast knowledge (I've seen your video regarding catholicism & mormonism, as well as your bible studies) & any debater whose even slightly dishonest, would show clear signs of it. The fact you can have a view of scripture & almost counter your own argument with alternate views tells me how much time you put into your studies & how humble you are in regard to your conclusion. Anyone who says "Here's my view & I could be wrong, but show me.." has my respect. I try & do the same because, if I'm being honest, I'm probably wrong in my theology somewhere. Only a fool would believe he's 100% correct lol Thanks Socrates, Pluto & Aristotle lol You remind me of my Pastor. He often states his theological views on very controversial topics & ends with, in regard to his own theological beliefs, "..in my honest, humble, & completely correct opinion." 😉 🤣 It's funny because we all have differing views but think that we're 100% correct lol The only difference is the ability to defend it. That's why it's funny!

I just watched around 60% of your explanation in this video. And, a thought came to my mind. From your explanation about typology between Old and New Testament, and from your explanation about Melchisedek was a real King and Priest of a Kingdom called Salem, and he blessed Abraham, I then saw a common pattern between John the Baptist and Melchisedek. They both prepared the coming of a person assigned by God for the salvation of His people. Abraham was a father of those who have faith. Jesus is the Messiah. Melchisedek blessed Abraham as a sign of God about who Abraham was, John the Baptist baptized Jesus as a sign of God about who Jesus was. This is interesting. Really.

Q: If in Hebrews chapter 5 says that Jesus prayed with vehement cries to be saved from death, and was heard by God, how is it that Jesus still went to the cross and died on it? My A: Just because God the Father heard Jesus' prayer DOES NOT MEAN He was changing His mind about His Son going to the cross to die. Jesus prayed, "Not My will, but Yours be done." God's promises are Yes and Amen, but His answers to our prayers can be Yes, No, or Wait.

@@slibertas1996 The likelihood of it being Shem seems low. Hebrews emphasis on Melkizedek's lack of a genealogy would suggest he wasn't a person with a recorded genealogy in Scripture. Hey Mike, your stuff has been helping me grow in my faith tremendously. It has truly been a blessing, on par, if not better than a lot of what I've heard from Michael Brown and William Lane Craig, and I have listened to both of those guys a lot. I just wish I found you sooner. I was wondering if you have any videos planned on Secondary Separation? Servus Christi makes a good case that I'm having a hard time refuting through scripture and it's very troublesome to me. The idea that WLC could be guilty for not rebuking Catholic doctrine when given the chance to speak out against it (he seems to classify it as Mere Christianity) making him complicit and therefore guilty in spreading a false Gospel is very depressing to me. I don't want to have to give up learning from him or forgo sharing his material. Same goes for Dr. Brown, who although doesn't believe you can hold to Catholic doctrine and be saved (from what I've heard), he seems to be associated with people who do. Here is a link Servus Christi's case for Secondary Separation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noWckoSvoZyjY5o. If you can't give it a listen, I totally understand. If you're even interested, let me know and I'll try to list his case by the scripture he provides.

Abraham also didn't seem to respond to Melchizedek like others in the old Testament when they meet God. For example he didn't bow down or fear for his life.

It is so encouraging to hear Mike speak about seeing Jesus in the OT and how it happens and why it must be that way. I'm not alone! At least it feels that way. But there is definitely a movement happening in revealing Jesus / Yeshua as the warp and woof of the Torah's and Prophets and Writings original inspiration. Mike keeps speaking of his favorite. I have some too. I love how Ruth is to observe the place of Boaz's rest. I love how the tree / aets designed to kill Mordecai ends up killing Haman... a lot like how Goliath dies by his own sword. I really like how David shows Goliath of Gath's head to Jerusalem. Think for a moment about the picture of 1 Samuel 17. Notice that David goes down into the valley with a staff and sling. The staff is key, because I'm pretty sure he kept it after his victory and used to plant the head on a visible hill near Jerusalem. We all know the message he was sending: the Philistines won't help you. And more than that, don't you think the hill would have been named something like Goliath of Gath? How about Golgatha or Place of the Skull? There is so much stuff like that. Ever think of Jericho being circumcised? Ever wonder why it is the first city that needs to fall? Did you know it is the lowest city in the world? Did you know it claims to be the old continuously inhabited city in the world? Entering by Yeshua's view: you cannot take anything from the old Adam. Everything about your old Adam must be devoted to destruction... carry your cross.
