Less than two hours in, and I can already tell this 1997 version of Melissa doesn’t hold a candle to Francis Durbridge’s original. People are dropping dead, but not Melissa-that was the whole point in the original. Her husband didn’t really know her. She’s dead… or is she? Is Guy going nuts? Is she playing with him, or sending him messages from beyond?

What a long, drawn-out movie! Everything goes much faster these days. There was apparently no sinister events going on, although towards the end when the skeletons were being dragged out from lots of hiding places, the characters darker sides were brought out. The policemen were a bit of a comedy act which seemed out of place, but did lighten the dull bits and I enjoyed their performance. Definitely worth watching if you're in the mood and happy to relax and let it unfold.

I have always wondered what attracts an actor to a script, and after a short time thinking about it it must be the paycheck because I am shocked at the actors who decided to and therefore sign up for and act in this utter drivel and shit. I'm currently ill with 'flu, do not own a t.v., and rely on YT for 'entertainment'. Even ill I should have turned this off and had a ''flu nap'. But no. I was so depressed and low with my illness I kept watching, maybe hoping it would get better. Tim Dutton's character is so cold I was mortified by his behaviour. I've never been a fan of Jennifer Ehle's (I can't stand people who talk and smile at the same time. What is that about?). None of the characters were nice and deserved any form or type of sympathy or empathy, and Diane Weston should have received a Raspberry Award for her 'performance'. I'm not going to tell you what to do because you are big enough and ugly enough to make up your own mind, but this is almost 5 hours long. So think about it. Seriously. Think about it.
