I was a long haul trucker for over a million miles.I have been more places with Mellisa Etheridge than I have been with my wife of over 35 years. Sometimes the stereo just isn't loud enough. This song is one of those times.

My mom raised me right also and I grew up listening to Melissa, fond memories of car rides, singing this album all the way through. She passed away at 42 , I was 22 in 2008 with two babies, both were born in 2007, one 1-07, the other 12-07. In moments I need her, I find her by listening to Melissa Etheridge. I go to evey concert I can each year, she has no grave so her concerts are where I visit. Last concert, I was really missing my mom and she actually sang a lot of her older songs, some I had never heard her live before. I was that grown woman in the front row crying that night, hearing the songs that let me know I can always find her, feel her, truly remember her. 8 hope Melissa Etheridge truly knows her music has a impact across the decades and she is truly a amazing artist-

Plus the talent in her pinky out shines most. I made my girls go once to a concert when they thought they would grow up to be rock stars. Showed them a amazing women they can look up to in the industry. They not only heard her amazing way she delivers songs, but her ability across several instruments. A true musician, not just pretty face with a team of producers and sound equipment- Melissa Etheridge is the real deal, and is a role model on stage and as a person in general

I was reeling from the loss of my brother, 30 yrs today, from complications due to HIV, and hanging out with those he called "friend's". Some were shady, some pure and honest. All of them tucked deep in my heart. Melissa Etheridge is a gem. Nobody has that voice, that soul, that purity to make her so unique. She is the only one who could soothe me tonight. Thank you,. One of the best,most deep songs i've ever heard. A friend put this on a cd for me when i was 17 and into the old gangsta rap and this song touched me like nothing else. I'm surprised that so many people feel the need to comment on her sexuality. Why is it so important? A tallented person is a tallented person, regardless of their sexuality, gender, race, religion, colour or background. Lets focus on the music peeps.

@@nopenadanowaynohow No I don't think you do get it unless you're hiding it well. I was speaking to my experience as an LGBTQ+ individual. I listened and watched someone like myself in a time that we didn't see ourselves unless we were comedy relief or dying in a movie or on TV. So while I never implied in my original statement that it was just the LGBTQ+ community that responded to the song or that it was about only us I will say that for us? It was earth moving in a way it wasn't for anyone else. Representation matters. Also, sure it's about a relationship. It was also written from a lesbian standpoint. So ya I get it.
@leslie14364 жыл бұрын
@@nopenadanowaynohow I'm not sure of how "Coming out at 14 in a small town this song hit me so hard" = This song only speaks to LGBTQ folks? Once again I was speaking to *my* experience. You are the one who brought up that it wasn't about sexuality. I never said gender was mentioned. I said Knowing that it was written for a woman by a woman was empowering for me because of a lack of representation. Maybe you should have left it at YOUR experience with the song with out trying to invalidate and misinterpret mine? Why did I assume you weren't part of my community? 1. LBG is incorrect. no LGBTQ+ person I have ever met uses that initialism. 2. We tend to not belittle each others coming out. "But go ahead buttercup, assume that anyone with a different opinion can't be gay and understand" If you are not LGBTQ you can not understand the experience of being so. You can empathize but not understand. ALSO buttercup??? So now we are being clever and name calling??? Get under a bring troll because I'm done with you.

this is a very warmhearted love song to me, and quite an unusual one. Most love songs will talk about either the passion to the beloved one, the feelings towards him or her, or the pain when being apart or when love is uncountered. In this one however, she talks about what she will do (unconditionally) for him, without demanding anything in return. Doing something for your beloved one simply for the sake because you like him/her and knowing that they will greatly enjoy it or simply relax and soke it all in, yes i guess this is an often forgotten vertue. I'm > 50 right now and English is not my native language, and the hard i think, i do not remember having ever heard a love song of this kind. Well done!

idk if Melissa Etheridge ever reads these, but if she does: You write some of the most moving music that I have ever heard. There are probably a lot of people who will take this song SOLELY as a love ballad from one woman to another, but as a song it stands on its own both in lyric content and musically. I write as a bi person in my 60s who has had my fair share of heartbreak with men and women. I am in love and wish you as much as I have if not more.
