love this performance - love the sound and the jocularity - one thing I consistently notice is kd is always so respectful of the artist she is performing with - she watches them intently and modifies her performance accordingly - it is clear she is there for them - to enhance their performance, and doesn't get carried away with her own powerful voice - of course that is a professional - but more than that kd is very respectful of others consistently! love her! love Melissa!

My mother was a homophobe her entire life until she discovered kd lang. She heard her sing, and was shocked when she saw a live performance in the 90's and could put a face with the voice. It took a couple of years before she stopped the hateful references to the gay community, but she eventually came around, and by the time she died, was openly praising kd without any mention of her orientation. Thank you, kd, for changing my mother's mind before it was too late.

I saw her on her first appearances on the Johnny Carson show around 1986 - 87 and knew she was gay by her hair and the other women talking at my house. The women at the house were from Alberta and knew who she was. Were all Canadians. I thought her singing was great enough to tape it on VHS and have it transferred to digital. Some of the songs are not on KZbin.

I give Ethridge credit because she recognized the voice of Lang and the possibility of playing with it. Orbison realized it too. Cohen acknowledged the voice, but wasn't up to a duet. perfection! i remember the 90's soo well, women coming out all over the place (starting with kd) there was a great sense of empowerment during those times. i was just coming out ( a bit late-catholic) and i recall veing sooo excited to see this on tv, along with sarah mclachlan, whom i'm at least half way in love with. lesbians, have somehow become somewaht invisable again. sad. i seriously miss those times:(

I remember everything you wrote, clear as a bell. We were so excited, so hopeful, so happy! After fighting so hard to become out and strong, now we are being pushed back again. Ive fought this fight my entire life, and its heartbreaking to feel the backwards slide happening now. This song reminds me of the excitement and power we all felt back then.
