It's a sad thing when a doctor, who is suppose to be a professional, is having his picture taken with an unconscious patient. Celebrity or not, this is disgusting.
@dmann11158 жыл бұрын
I agree, if it's true. One wouldn't expect that behavior from an upper east side clinic accustomed to serving famous and wealthy patients. It's reminiscent of what happened to George Harrison in the days before he died, when a doctor shoved a guitar in front of him to autograph for the doctor's son. This was also in New York. George reportedly said "I can't really sign my name anymore," yet signed it anyway. Soon after his death, his lawyers promptly sued the doctor and demanded the guitar back as well, as I recall. Fortunately they had a very enlightened, practical-minded judge who encouraged the parties to reach a quick and just settlement that was beneficial to the estate and his family, thereby keeping the publicity to a minimum.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Joan Rivers. At first I was afraid, at first sight she made me feel so comfortable and addressed me by my name. She was amazingly beautiful facial surgery and all. Just beautiful inside and out. She asked me so many questions, a very personable soul. We talked a lot. After her concert she went back stage and signed autographs and talked to all her fans waiting to meet her. She came back into the dressing room and said, “ my fans are everything to me, I owe them, after all without them I would not be doing what I 💕 love.” I would be unemployed!!! She is my most favorite celebrity to ever work with. I will always cherish that evening as I don’t get excited about celebrities. Joan you will never be forgotten only missed.❤ rest in heaven beautiful soul.

nemofan111 This procedure, is done zillions of times a day, across the country and world, it's not what one would call a risky procedure , and for a well trained doctor, an attentive doctor, it's quite simple. Because of this, Joan Rivers death, should have never happened. Melissa will find out what happened and I completely agree about this being a 100% avoidable death. I had the joys of meeting her and she was gracious and kind. Totally careless and accountability is in order.
@2009916029 жыл бұрын
MrQbenDanny These clinics are so bogus. The best place to have procedures like this, is a hospital. They advertise themselves as fast and time saving, but that can bring on much tragedy, no one can do a fast procedure, it's too dangerous. Or to be taking selfies, that is sickening. This place must be closed down forever, and never be allowed to reopen.
@dmann11158 жыл бұрын
I can't help thinking Joan was likely well aware a hospital would be safer but preferred the clinic, thinking it would be more private. Celebrities trying to keep away from paparazzi and the like have to make difficult decisions that can lead to tragic consequences. From Princess Dianna, who literally died trying to flee paparazzi, to Prince, who, being so very private and shy, chose to leave a hospital after only three hours, against doctors' wishes that he stay for 24 hours. Then he stayed away from both hospitals and qualified clinics just minutes away from his home, preferring to wait on a doctor to fly in from the west coast, which ended up being fatal for him - he literally ran out of time. Very sad.
@MrQbenDanny8 жыл бұрын
+D Mann You make an excellent point, and you cite perfect celebrity examples where this might be an issue. I don't think it applies to Joan who was paparazzi friendly and were helpful in her line of work which was mocking them, whether in Fashion Police or red carpet premieres. The paparazzi adored her. I met her once in my building lobby and she was surrounded by many tenants and she was so classy and sweet to all, very different from her patented stage persona. A unnecessary tragedy, she had so much more life in her. Joan the Great.
@dmann11158 жыл бұрын
(The paparazzi loved Amy Winehouse too, there's a youtube video showing her bringing out mugs of tea for them from her home, late at night. Ditto my earlier example of Di.) No, the point isn't really whether they like a celebrity or not. Few celebrities want to draw attention at all times, positive or negative. Would you want press waiting for you to step outside after you have any kind of outpatient procedure? Can kind of get in the way. Absolutely she had much more life in her. Powerhouse! She did some amazing things: hosted the Tonight Show beautifully, survived her husband's sad death and financial loss, succeeded as a businesswoman and entertainer, and beat everybody to win twice on Celebrity Apprentice - kicked ass after they fired her daughter the first time around. As a comic, she's not unlike Don Rickles. Only he didn't have his own shows or sell jewelry on TV. He's way past her age. Nobody is saying he should stop working and die, are they?

It was so much slander coming from racist and Republican America that why would they accused Mr. Obama of this? All the slanderous lies that Mr. Trump was accusing Mr. Obama of, before he was President would have cause his death. What Mr. Obama exposed of white-America is that their Elders still teach their children hatred towards people of color. Which causes their envy and jealousy to kick in. If White people had any honesty in them they would admit Mr. Obama would have been a great President with the help of the US government. Most surgical suites have cameras. I worked in a hospital for over 23 years and I can tell you that stuff like this happens. Sometimes Doctors/Surgeons/ nurses act VERY unprofessionally. I also firmly believe that ALL endoscopic procedures should be done in a HOSPITAL setting, not at a minor facility like a lot of them are .....including colonoscopies. A lot of folks have narrow airways and run into issues with the anesthesia and most of these place do not have crash carts.

Look into an amateur vid taken at an airport titled 'one of Joan Rivers last interviews' (Palestine).. She spits out a whole lot of Truth! The big Mike thing was hyped up to take the focus off this, as the Big Mike thing would be considered 'rediculous' , (especially as an excuse to do what we know they did do ..) as many unfortunately are still *that* indoctrinated. Andlets not forget, Joan was a huge fan of Trumps and vice versa. (she even Said he would make an excellent President, and clearly, she was right! ).

Done. www.nytimes.com/2016/05/13/nyregion/settlement-reached-in-joan-rivers-malpractice-case.html There was a finding of wrongdoing, the doctors accepted responsibility, and they paid an undisclosed amount of damages to Melissa. The TODAY show should really update the post to include this. That might do a lot to balance the comments...

Joan Rivers was hilarious and fearless. I saw her in 1986 on the Sunset Strip. It was so interesting seeing this person I'd only seen as a flickering black and white image on my television as a child while watching The Ed Sullivan Show. She was one of the few comedians left from that early 1960's television era. I saw how she strove to remain relevant even though the times and societal normd had changed

I will never understand this death. Had Joan been my mother I would have told that doctor you and your malpractice insurance can keep your millions. I want YOU AND EVERYONE RESPONSIBLE, ARRESTED!!! I want you all to stand trial! How did they get away with this? Everyone involved should have lost the ability to practice ever again. It wasn’t just unethical, it was homicidal to take liberties with someone’s life while they were powerless to speak for themselves!! I would have told the world everything I knew and dared them to sue me. I’m still so angry about how horribly Joan was betrayed!!

This is so sad about Joan Rivers no matter how long ago this was. My mom died Nov 22,2017 after being treated for Meningitis. They didn't know which one she had. Fungal , bacterial , or viral so treated her for all three. She never got better. She had shortness of breath, dizziness afterwards and died a month later. She was 64 years old. We didn't have an autopsy so I don't know what killed her.. They said it was an interruption of blood flow to her heart but months before her heart exam came back fine. To this day we still don't know what killed my mother. Stories like Joan's and my mom are more common then people might think.
