I have been playing bugle ,cornet, trumpet, e flat horn, baritone and euphonium for 47 years now and can only dream of achieving such a clear tone. Bravo young lady.

This was played at our Nov 11, 2014 Veterans Service in Nova Scotia Canada.....As a 28 year veteran and honoring my Father, Grandfather and 7 other Great Uncles all RYANS.................This was so touching...............LEST WE FORGET. AMEN.

I served 22 years in the British Army and have heard the last post played many times. I am retired now but was out running a few months ago using an old ipod that had about 4000 songs on it. This tune came up and I found myself running with tears in my eyes!

Being ex RAF (1961-1975) I have heard 'The Last Post' played before, and every time no matter if a band, solo player etc., like this young girl, always makes my eyes water. It is just a tune that always reminds me of those lost in wars, and this young girls play it beautifully.

Thanks for listening this piece of music. Actually, this is not the "solemn version" (2 min. long max.), on this occasion it is a bit "sweetened" by harp and orchestra. It bear the name of "Silence", and it is used by Italian Army as "Memorial (of dead soldiers)".

I'm old,74. I played the trumpet when I was young. This young lady has complete control of a very fickle instrument. She has that magic touch that makes a trumpet come alive and stir the emotions with clear, beautifully crafted notes. Incidentally, I played slightly to one side on my mouth too.

I started in 1955. Still have my 1957 (if it were a Chevy, it would be a classic!) trumpet that my father paid $133.00 for! I remember it well, because it was so much money to him :) I'll be 76 this August. I agree with you completely about Melissa!

I'm 69, and although I've played clarinet, string bass and a couple other instruments from the "distant past", I took up brass this year, buying a trombone in March, and a trumpet a week ago (each of the instruments for about $120, from eBay). I'm having a lot of fun, although I doubt I'll even play either anywhere as well as Melissa, especially on the trumpet!

I have played the trumpet myself since 1981 and also Il Silenzio. It's one of the most delicate pieces there are on trumpet and besides that I used to play this solo myself in my former band, I've heard it being played literally hundreds of times by hundreds of players. But never, never like Melissa. There's only one possible definition for this, and that is: perfection. Absolute sheer perfection. Technically and emotionally. There is just one person that can bring tears to my eyes with this piece...and that's Melissa Venema. BRAVA!!!

I have listened to this so many times. I have also compared to many others. A long time ago I could play this myself... but never to this degree of perfection. If you have never played a trumpet you will not understand just how good Melissa is! Brilliant is the minimal word. Some trumpeters produce vile sounds from the instrument, Melissa is at the other end of the scale, and I can listen to this and other of her pieces over and over; that's real talent, consistently of a very high standard. The only puzzlement is why 4% of the people who comment don't like hearing this, a reflective musical item played so exquisitely,,,, with the added bonus of Melissa being somewhat gorgeous herself ! Maybe those 4% prefer rap.? Who knows.

Belíssima. Me sinto nas nuvens quando ouço alguém tocar, na minha pré juventude queria ter aprendido a tocarr mas não consegui. Mas agradeço a Deus 🙏🙏 por estar ouvindo aos que tocam e maravilhosamente bem.
