Beautiful. I hate to say this but genetics plays a big part. Not to discourage anyone but they need to have realistic expectations. This lady's hair grew so much even though she added so much heat. She has very strong hair naturally.

You're right but hair grows. Hair can't be the difference from shoulder length to tailbone but it can be from waist to tailbone

try biotin it has helped my hair to grow a lot faster and my hair is shiner
@loliatamuno52628 жыл бұрын
+Meesha Edwards Maybe try getting a trim. Sometimes a plateau in length retention may be signs you need a trim, because the ends are breaking of as fast/faster than the hair is growing in. Also, try washing your hair a little bit more often (ex. if you wash your hair biweekly, try washing your hair weekly instead) as hydrating (i.e. completely saturating the hair with water [different than daily moisturization]), is really important. Also, try wearing your hair in styles that keep your ends off your shoulders/cloths to reduce friction. And try sleeping on satin/silk like materials.Also, don' skip conditions and deep conditions. I hope this help. Good luck.

Thank you, Melissa Denise for sharing your transition from Relaxed to Natural. My daughter and I are going through the very same thing, because we are sick and tired of how our hair has been reacting from being relaxed. Our hair is most definitely MORE healthier when there are not relaxers placed upon our hair (not saying that relaxed hair can't be healthy), but we just wanted to do things a little DIFFERENTLY!!!! I've even tried purchasing hair vitamins that once we've stopped taking them, our hair broke off tremendously!!! But with DEEP CONDITIONING, changing SOME of our diet (I'm not going to lie and say "all of it"..) among other things will hopefully help! I appreciate you sharing this adventure with us. Be blessed, and may EVERYTHING you touch FLOURISH ABUNDANTLY!!!!

I'm glad you made this video. A lot of black women think their hair can't grow, but it does! I, just like you, had to realize heat was killing my hair!! So as soon as I stopped applying so much heat(Last time I applied heat was 8 months ago) my hair began to grow like a weed! 8 months ago my hair was just a little past my neck, now its past my shoulders! I'm now going to invest in hair scissors. Never going back to a salon to get my hair done-they always mess up our hair!

THERES HOPE FOR MY HAIR TO GROW LONGER!! For years (as long as I can remember) my mom always forced me to straighten my hair because she hated the look of natural curls, inevitably my hair stayed short and damaged. Almost six months ago I ended up moving in with my dad and completely stopped using my straighter or any form of heat on my hair. Although my hair is insanely healthier now it's still not growing at the rate I want it too, but now I know I just have to be a little more patient. OH! I want to know how often you wash your hair when it's natural because for me if I want to wear my hair down I have to wet it first before I can do anything to try and tame it.
@MelissaDenise9 жыл бұрын
Tori Santiago YAY too less heat!!! But I probably wash it once a month and cowash about twice a month (all depends on how dirty is/what i'm doing that week) -- but yes if i dont have a style thats going to last me the week than I too have to wet it...how about trying to put water in a spray bottle so maybe you wont have to wash your whole head. Thats worked pretty well for me!!! Hope that helps!!! Good luck with everything!! xoxo

so jealous. i went transitioning for one year, and my hair grew about 7 inches. The curls were so pretty but my hair did not love me back. it was always tangled no matter what i did. i combed my hair ONLY when wet/with conditioner, i used wide tooth combs, i used NO heat, i had an expensive deep conditioner made specifically for my hair type that i left in my hair for 30min to an hour, i did co-washes i used every kind of oil including coconut even after i found the perfect sulfate free shampoo that made my tangles go away, it STILL ended up tangled the next day. plus i didn't appreciate the fact that i spent HOURS just washing my hair. i couldn't take it anymore so i relaxed my hair....now i regret it. today i could have had 100% natural hair... but i'm gonna start over again! i just hope my hair can love me back...

Love this. Thanks for sharing. I am also on a natural hair journey. I haven't had a relaxer in almost 8 years. I'm tender headed so it is hard for me to do my natural hair and I have been wearing weaves just because I don't know how to handle it. My hair is half way down my back, at least 16 inches so I am researching on how I can start wearing my natural hair without too much hassle. I do have a professional Corporate job where I am literally the only 1 of 3 black women in this high a position so I can't be looking all crazy at work. I love wearing the weaves because it's easy, I always have perfect hair and don't have to worry about it but it is getting expensive and a waste because my natural hair is just as long as my weaved hair. Your video is giving me hope that I, too, can find the way to better care for my natural hair. My beautician who keeps telling me I should wear my natural hair and shouldn't have all this hair under a weave said she'll work with me. I'm glad that she's a natural hairstylist as well and wears her own hair naturally. We shall see. The hair journey continues.

@MonikuStarr8 жыл бұрын
It's possible that is not your real texture but heat damage. It will loosen your curl pattern making it appear to grow out looser too. It's confusing if you never seen your real texture. It happened to me. It's very possible to transition by flat ironing but know, your current texture isn't likely not yours. But it looks healthy. Another thing to watch out for is shedding. Flat ironing will cause that especially if you focus on your roots like I did. Good luck!

Omg! Where have you been my whole life. Lol This is my second attempt at going natural, but I love my heat as well but I think if I slowly let it go this transition will be a lot easier for me. I would love to know you routine when u first started because I'm only 18 weeks post. (Long way to go) but I'm ready this time.
