I'm so glad I found you. I'm in my 40s and starting for the first time to seriously get in shape and I know when I hit menopause in a few years the game will change and I'll have to adjust what I learned. So I'm glad I found you.

I think you are such a fab human being...an angel for all us women over 40, 50 and more who are stuck in the cycle of old diets and workout routines that just don't work. I have been bagging it out at the gym for years and in the last 3 years I have not managed to obtain a lean, toned body and it is just frustrating. But watching and taking on board your advice it all makes so much sense and now I am back on track at the gym. All in good time, here we go girls.

Thanks for your fantastic videos Melissa. I've struggled with my fear of eating fat which I think was due to the mental conditioning of weight loss of the 1990's. I had wanted to get over that but most fitness advice seemed to be from young women that I felt was not geared towards 40+ women. Over the last few months I have been enjoying eating more healthy fats as a result of trusting your advice. I feel strong, lean and toned. Thanks again :)

I’m 53. 5’6” and 167 pounds. I just watch a video saying intermittent fasting is not good😞 I have doing it for the last three years. I do cardio five days a week for an hour but I don’t see any result. I have learn a lot in two videos from you. I just found you. I’m not good counting calories but I would like to know how many I have to take to loose weight and gain muscle.

I'm in the same boat, doing intermittent fasting and low carb for 3 years, working out 5 days a week, at the beginning worked wonderful, but a year ago all what I have seen is gaining weight, I'm eating vey low calories as well, sometimes I eat 700 calories, according to Melissa all this things are red flags for my age, I'm 53 too .. at the same time I'm very conscious of carbs, I'm afraid of them, but I know I'm doing something wrong and I'm going to try all Melissa's advises.

When you say "carbs" please just distinguish between veggies and other types of carbs. But alot of carbs can spike your insulin. That's something you don't want.

Absolutely fantastic information, Melissa! I'm really glad you mentioned coconut oil, because I was wondering about it as you were talking. There's such conflicting information about it I absolutely love this stuff, and my gut instinct tells me it's good because it's a natural occurring oil. But there are reports out there that it's high in saturated fat, so then I wonder if I'm making a good choice with it again.

Hi. I’m confused about the numbers. 153 grams of protein is only 5.39 ounces. That is the amount of protein a woman who weighs 153 lbs should eat in a day? That doesn’t seem right because it’s too low of a number. Please clarify as I see others have this question too.

Melissa, I would like to supplement my lunch with a protein shake. I cannot digest meat very well so a protein shake is ideal. I am looking to lose 25 lbs & weight lifting. I am lifting 10 lbs now. I used to do 30 lbs many years ago & I would like to get there again. What protein shake do you recommend? If you don't feel comfortable mentioning a brand, are there ingredients that you recommend the most for my goals?
@asztaloseva27163 жыл бұрын
You say we avoid artificial sweeteners, but it is in protein products (whey, plant-based) and erythritol is also an artificial sweetener. Dairy products are not part of the anti-inflammatory diet, like Greek yogurt ... What do you recommend.

Glad to find your channel. I am 50 and am 5'7" and weigh 115-118lbs. It fluctuates. In order to gain muscle would eating 1 gram per lb of weight help me gain ?
@candycrushlover29102 жыл бұрын
1g of protein in every lb of your goal body weight per day? If I could only have 2 eggs a day for my protein, and I eat that for breakfast, what do I do for lunch and dinner? I'm used to having that and protein for my second meal. I've been intermittent fasting, just because naturally I get up late and so eat around 11am and 3 or 4pm. The advice in this video is great, but I feel like it's unsustainable? Perhaps I'm not understanding the food broken down into meals?

Great information! A great book I've read on eating for hormone health for men and women is "Your Body in Balance" By Dr. Neal Bernard. He outlines how to eat prorperly for our hormone health and to give us an advantage for disease avoidance and reversal.

Wow, You lost me. Many physicians especially those specializing in anti-aging and weight loss (keeping blood sugar balanced is essential) are starting to understand how grains and carbs in general are not healthy longterm for many women. Grains are essentially processed into sugar and should be avoided. You’re not taking into consideration body type, innate metabolism, activity level, and preexisting heath issues. Yes your program is great for women who have probably not had chronic weight issues, blood sugar issues, or women who have always exercised, but the vast majority of women especially over 40 do not fall into those categories. It’s not realistic to make the claims you’re making for all women over 40, or in general to be honest. There are many women thriving over 40, 50, 60 on a low carb, high fat (good fat), moderate protein diet. This is quickly becoming a longterm way of eating for health and longevity. I think if you’re going to be a guru then create a variety of plans that are customized to the individual vs forcing 1 methodology that might set some of them up for failure. Kudos to you though for finding something that works for your body type. You look great.
@schoolingdiana90862 жыл бұрын
Your brain needs carbs and good fats to operate properly. No one is saying to eat highly processed carbs. Rustic breads and ancient grains, beans, lentils, chick peas, etc, are what’s being discussed. Vegetables are carbs, too. And your brain is mostly comprised of fats, plus some water. If you don’t get enough of either, your brain starts to dry out. I got certified in Neurolinguistics last year (2021), and most cognitive processing issues are nutritionally based from a lack of carbs and fats, and secondarily from brain injury, @Jaesha.
