@@MelissaNeill does it matter what kind of protein I eat? I'm not a vegetarian or vegan. I've been losing weight before I started watching your channel today. I usually eat poultry, eggs, and once in awhile, red meat. I also eat vegetables, fruit, and sometimes dairy. I've pretty much cleaned up my diet too and since last December I've lost 30 pounds. Finding your channel has been a game changer!! I'm 39 and in menopause. Had a hysterectomy over a year ago and recently could not understand why I wasn't losing weight the way I used to. This was it! I've noticed a huge difference in my cravings, hunger levels, and mood in just 2 weeks by increasing my protein, cutting back on cardio, and focusing on strength training (which I've always preferred over cardio).

No one ever told me how much protein I should be eating until I found you. I knew super low carb was not the way to go if I felt too weak to exercise. After a few days of eating over 100g of protein and making sure I’m eating 1500 calories, I can tell this is a game changer. I know I can eat and no longer be hungry all the time. Thank you so much!

Vegan for 15 years. Beans are not a complete protein source alone, with the exception of soy. You have to eat rice or I believe nuts or seeds same day, not necessarily same meal, to make it complete. I don’t like protein powder so struggle with the amount you’re suggesting without eating a ton of carbs or a lot of faux meat.

This is absolutely brilliant. As a vegan i lost weight rather easily in my mid 40s as i dropped middle to high saturated fat sources and of course cholesterol. I then stidied whole food plant based nutrition twice. I upped my protein with difference beans, nuts and different lentils and tofu , tempeh and seitan. OMG, my blood work is amazing and i just upped my protein to just enough. You DO NOT ,wamt to go mad because of IGF1 and if yiu want to ref check go to Simon Hills videos. What she is telling you here is correct but mybonly caveat is soy beans and soy prpducts are superb and sinon hill and Gil from Nutrition Made Simple on YT Dr and Scientist is Gil have proven that soy products are fine and actually beneficial. I wouldnt touch casein with a barge poll as its links with disease but ive studied health sciences at university and reD Dr T.C Campbells studies. Shes showing plant based nutrition and its the way to go!!! Trust her on that. The dairy industry has spent billions demonising soya and in the science community we know the truth, sadly the public have been duped! Why duped? Marketing and money.... it always is.

you forgot to mention that muscle increases metabolic rate.Using your muscles helps burn glucose and improves the way insulin works. That's why blood glucose levels usually come down during exercise The muscle cells in your body use energy, while the fat cells store energy.Muscle fortifies the bones, ligaments and tendons and also boosts immune system, its not all about having less fat, the benefits are a bit wider in range than that. Protein is not enough after age of 40s, hight good fatty acids are a must also. people are too afraid to use fats.

I’m really struggling. I went through menopause at 43! I was okay for a bit since I already lifted weights and exercised as well as paid attention to nutrition, but now, at 45, I am packing on inches (& pounds). I’m really struggling bc when I pay attention to getting the correct amount of protein, I end up eating too many calories. My other issue is stress eating and I am doing it more and honestly think some of the time, I really am very hungry. Double loss of hormones with hypothyroidism. Again, always paid attention to diet exercise and was able to manage until now. It’s like my body has become overwhelmed!!!

I eat PB (for hormone health this works wonders for me) and I do manage to get my body weights worth of protein a day. However, my carbs will always be higher than someone eating animal protein.
