Hi Melissa do you have any contacts with Diane Danzebrink? She also has a KZbin channel. I think your fitness knowledge could be really fantastic to members of her fb group “menopause support network uk”. Just a thought, as I watch you both whilst trying to sort my life out. Thanks x

I’ve always kept fit all my adult life. I’m a young 60 now (I started early menopause when I was 41). I’ve put on covid weight like a lot of us. I’m definitely experiencing adrenal fatigue, I’m trying to lose a few pounds, now resumed body pump and Zumba classes but I’m constantly tired and sleep deprived, your tips and advice have really helped Melissa, more of these videos would be great, thank you so much. 💪🙌🙏🏻x

My advice is pretty clear. Body pump and Zumba are not part of the strategy for weight loss over 40.

@@MelissaNeill I know you have suggested HIIT exercises added to strength training. Could Zumba be considered a HIIT exercise? I always thought it was, so I'd really appreciate your professional advice on this. Thanks 😊

So so so happy I found your you tube. Since following you a week ago, I have increased my weight strength training from 30lbs to 40lbs. When you said heavier weights won’t bulk me up. That’s what I needed to hear. Reduced my cardio from 1hr to 20mins (1mile) with 5 min walk cool down to bring my heart rate back down to normal. By changing this I have more energy and don’t feel fatigued. I’m eating more broccoli, drinking more water and incorporating intermittent fasting on the weekends to give my body a break from the week. I’m sleeping better at night. Thank you 🙏🏾

Thank you so much for addressing this. My PMS is soooo much worse now. It seems like every few months it’s really bad. I’m 56 and I really thought I was one of the only ones still dealing with a monthly cycle. My sleep is not great particularly around that time. I’ve got a gut which I didn’t have before. Thank you for helping me feel not so alien

Same here. I'm 54 and my hormones are all over the place in the peri menopausal state. I have a period maybe twice a year now. Barely sleeping sometimes. Hot flashes. Not so much during fall and winter. But summertime is the absolute worse for me🥵. And anxiety is through the roof sometimes. Brain fog also. I have to isolate myself during those times bc being around others makes it worse. It's kind of debilitating. But it calms down after about 2 to 4 weeks until the next time it starts up again. And I don't see the stress levels reducing until I retire. Work is very stressful. However i am very thankful for coming across Melissa's channel. She gives very good advice and tips 😇🙏💖

I’m so glad I watched this video. I am post-menopausal and have gained so much weight so quickly (the pandemic and job loss stress did not help). My biggest issue is sleep. My sleep has been off for about 2 years or more. I can fall asleep but I don’t stay asleep. I did recently get a weighted blanket and I LOVE it! But hearing things in the video like the importance of a diet higher in protein and more strength training are going to be tweaks i need to make. Thank you 🙏🏾

Yes , thank you Melissa I am thinking about all of these kinds of things within menopause. I am happy that I am free from those menstrual days and am now 60. I feel sometimes very tired at times and other days I feel so energetic. Some days I feel like eating berries in the morning when my sweet tooth kicks in, and other times I feel like eating egg whites or oatmeal. Most of the time I get up and drink water first with lemon, then about 30 minutes later I eat something. I am trying to balance out my protein, veggies and fruit. Sometimes I sleep very well right when I do a real heavy workout or just get sleepy. Sleep and relaxation is very important. We have to listen to our body.

I’m so disgusted. I turned 46 in February. I started working from home a little over a year ago. I’ve gained over 15 pounds as a result of being sedentary along with the pandemic. I’ve always had jobs that kept me moving and now I’ve been confined to a chair for 8 hours. My diet hasn’t changed but the weight kept creeping up no matter what I did. I work out 5 days a week just to get on the scale and I’ve gained. It’s so discouraging to the point where I feel like giving up. I’ve came a long way on my Weightloss journey losing over 85 pounds naturally with hard work and changing my diet. I’ve kept the weight off for 14 years. My weight started creeping up 2 years ago but only 5 or 6 pounds then the pandemic happened and here i am 15 pounds over where I want to be. I knew this day would come as I’m no stranger when it comes to knowing what’s to come with hormones I just didn’t know it would be so drastically hard for me at 46. I’m 168 pounds none of my clothes fit right and yesterday I cried with despair. I need help with a balance on how many calories I need to eat a day and just eating enough. I do strength training 3 times a week and cardio 2 times a week. Still the scale either goes up or don’t budge. I’m so frustrated please could you tell my how to figure out exactly how much I should be eating. I’m 5’3 168 pounds 46yrs sedentary and I work out 5 days per week. Any advice would be so much appreciated.

Don't despair. This has happened to many women during the pandemic. This in combination with your hormones has resulted in weight gain. Please check out this video I made on how to calculate your calories and macros: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGPGgpSJgqmdeLc

I’m going to try this again wish me luck!❤️

Im in my late 40s...This past year I've experienced some premenopausal episodes but I feel it's mostly contributed to the covid weight gain..😒unfortunately I gained what I lost 3 summers ago BACK. Back then I did mostly HIIT & stopped consuming bread & pop which led to my 50lb wt loss. NOW it seems even more challenging to work out, my legs are heavier than before & it's sooo frustrating. At this point I'm feeling really challenged but praying I can succeed once again! At times I feel swollen; I'm not sure if it's water retention or what?!!! Currently I've been consistently strength training/ HIIT with a little 30 min dance for the past 3 weeks. Wish me luck🙏🏾💪🏾. TY! Any tips / advice is welcomed. Much love n progress🏋🏾💃🏾

This video came at a time when I needed it the most! I've pretty much been listening to my body ( prior to watching her videos) for 6 months now, and it's been saying everything Melissa addressed. My mind told me to exercise but my body said " Nah, just go to sleep." My mind said I need to eat healthier and my body said "you know what, sometimes we just need some carbs and avocado." I thought it would be a good idea to binge watch a series I've been putting off, but then my body said " Let's just take a break from the phone." I listen to my favorite music instead and do nothing. Melissa, for me, is that big sister, that Aunt, that caring, beautiful wise woman who I need advice from. I'm going through this alone and I don't have that kind of family or friends around me. My grandparents and parents have passed on & I'm the oldest of my sisters. This is new for me. Thanks Melissa, my bell is on for new notifications.
