In using Cetaphil you can cut half the bar so it will not be fast on melting use the one half and the other half you can keep it

I actually prefer cleansing bars... less waste! I’ve been looking for a good gentle, sensitive skin friendly cleanser to try out that is truly sensitive skin friendly to alternate between my regular cleanser that I use. I love what I regularly cleanse my skin with... but my skin is also very dry, along with being very sensitive and acne prone, and it can tend to dry my skin out. However, It really does help keep my skin clear and it doesn’t irritate my skin, so I love it for that reason. I was looking for something gentle to use every other day and alternate them so I could still use my regular cleanser, but not have my skin feel so dry! A lot of the liquid “gentle” cleansers don’t really work out well for me. They either don’t do anything, they sting, or they irritate my skin! 🤦🏻‍♀️ CeraVe hydrating cleanser was recommended to me, but that one stung really badly when I would use it and it irritated my skin and made it almost feel MORE dry! I am going to pick this up and try it out! Thanks for the great review! I love your skincare videos! 🤗

True! Cetaphil has also a Gentle Cleansing bar which you will find on their website too😊 - I love those two a lot! What regular cleanser do you currently use? Have you already tried the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser that comes in a pump-bottle? Or the La Roche Toleraine Dermo-Cleanser which is gentle too? Just so that you have other options as well! - I know those aren't bars but they are gentle too! Hopefully one of the cleansers that I've mentioned will work for your skin!😞 Everyone's skin is different - those cleanser do not sting my skin but based on how you described it sounds like you have for sure a much more sensitive skin as I do! Thank you!🥰

Melissa Van Dijk I noticed that you had another video on the gentle bar! I clicked this one first because I thought that’s what this was! 🙈 I did watch the other one, as well. I plan to get the gentle one because I think that would be better for my skin! I currently use the Dr. Bronners Castile Bar Soap (unscented baby version). I know that’s not technically considered a “facial cleanser” however it has been one of the only things I’ve tried that has actually helped to clear up my acne and doesn’t irritate my skin and cause me to breakout more. It does tend to make my skin a bit dry after a couple of days of consistent use! I only wash my face once a day because of my sensitive skin. I’ve been using the Dr. Bronners bar some days and just water on other days as to not dry my skin out too much. I don’t wear makeup very often, so it works out well doing it that way. But I want something I can use on the alternating days that will be gentle and actually clean my skin better than just using plain water, which is why I was looking up reviews for the cetaphil bar! 😊 I have tried several of their cleansers. I prefer the gentle one, but it’s still a bit watery for my taste and I didn’t find it did too much. I don’t like the daily cleanser. It irritated my skin! I didn’t even know they had the cleansing bars until recently and was very intrigued because I do love cetaphil overall as a brand. I prefer it over CeraVe. Most CeraVe products that I’ve tried have really irritated my skin. I don’t use La Roche Posay because it’s not a brand that is easy for me to find where I live. I could order online, but I don’t like having to order things like that online since they usually come in damaged. The nearest store around me that sells that brand is about an hour away and that isn’t worth the drive, for me personally!

@@k.hebert I hope that the Cetaphil bar will be alright for your skin! Have you already tried using oil cleanser? The Ordinary has also a Squalane cleanser which kind of is like an oil cleanser and I also feel like that it doesn't dry out the skin. I've heard already the name of that bar of soap you've mentioned but I've never tried it - it would be great to find something that doesn't dry out or irritate your skin so that you can keep it as simple as possible😅 Most Cerave products irritate my skin as well but it is more like getting pimples everywhere which is really annoying and disappointing! Do the packages always arrive damaged?🙈What a shame! I hope that I still could help you and give you a few suggestions!

Melissa Van Dijk I actually do oil cleansing, but incorporate it in a 2 step cleansing method! 🙂 I normally only do it when I’m wearing makeup, though. I oil cleanse to remove all of my makeup and use my regular cleanser to wash the oils off. I actually have been using a mixture of organic cold-pressed Jojoba and Rosehip seed oil as my moisturizer after I cleanse my skin. I wasn’t having any luck with regular moisturizers that I had been trying, so I went back to using just my oils, alone, and it has been working out much nicer for my skin! I use my cetaphil moisturizers for my body and love it for that! My body isn’t nearly as sensitive as my face, oddly enough! But cetaphil has been my favorite for body moisturizers for a while, now. CeraVe would also give me a lot of breakouts as well as irritation. I’m not sure why it would cause the stinging and burning on my face... but I don’t feel like that is a “normal” thing to happen. It didn’t feel normal and didn’t subside easily afterwards... so I definitely didn’t want to keep using it! Such a shame as that skincare line is so highly suggested for sensitive, acne-prone skin!

In my opinion it's not about the vehicle of the cleansing but the ingredients.Dont be afraid of bar soaps as in the vehicle(Oh that's a bar soap,must be for the hands,too drying),look for the ingredients on the package.Same thing happens with hair-care.There are conditioner bars and no Sulfate bars and all that stuff. Nice video Melissa ^_^

Thanks for sharing this, and yes, you are right! 😃 I've gotten so many comments where people panicked, just because someone else mentioned it in their videos that they shouldn't use it and that it would harm or dry out their skin and that they should instead buy the cleanser they've mentioned etc. I just wanted to clarify that not every bar of soap is bad. And that the Cetaphil Gentle and the Deep cleansing bar are beautiful products. Also, I try to explain it as simple as possible so that everyone can understand it 😃 And if I can show it I do it so that they can see that there is no harm 😊

@VixenY Where are you from? Because it's not that popular where I live. ;) "The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution is unavailable on the website at the moment as their formulations are updated from time to time as part of their commitment to innovation and customer happiness." At this time, they don't have an estimated restock date. As an alternative, you can use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque. (Which can be applied up to twice a week) I would use the lactic acid instead. But you can use any of the other Direct Acids ;) depending on your needs.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thanks for the reply :D I live in Greece but I was going to order them from the official website since they don't sell them here.I have oily skin and I'd like to get rid of my blackheads and some minimal scaring from pimples(I don't really have acne).I was originally going for the AHA30% BHA2% exfoliant,so I thought the SA masque would be an overkill maybe?So far these are the products I have on my list(saying this because maybe your can suggest a product that doesn't conflict with the rest of my routine) AM-> Cleanse,Niacinamide,,moisturizer and sunscreen PM->Cleanse,Acid,moisturizer Also I was thinking of adding a retinol from the Ordinary,maybe once a week to build up tolerance. in the weekend Im going for a chemical exfoliation.Im stopping now because I wrote a whole essay but I'd appreciate it if you could help😂 If needed,im nearly 18 y.o

Okay, 😀 that’s not too far from where I live, I live in Austria for the moment! You can use both masks, but I would alternate once a week the AHA30% BHA2% and once a week the salicylic Acid mask. If you use it properly, there will be no harm to your skin! Most people can exfoliate once a day, but it’s a personal preference. And you have to see how your skin is behaving. Like this: Am1: Cleanse Niacinamide (does not make your skin sensitive to the sun! Moisturizer SPF PM1(once a week, for example Monday): Cleanse AHA30% BHA2% Moisturizer PM2 (once a week for example Thursday) Cleanse Salicylic Acid Mask Niacinamide Moisturizer PM3 (2-3 times a week ) Cleanse Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid or another acid 😆 Granactive Retinoid Emulsion Moisturizer PM4 (rest of the week) : Cleanse Niacinamide Moisturizer These retinoids are very gentle. Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (Moderate Strength, No Irritation) Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane (Moderate Strength, No Irritation) Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane (High Strength, No to Low Irritation) You can use them directly 2-3 times are week if not daily... But see how it goes. :)

Maybe the Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar is the best for my face but Cetaphil is expensive here in Philippines, I brought the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser "Dry and Sensitive Skin" because of the no water too bad not suit on my oily face.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Bar with Triclosan? not yet I read this somewhere BEWARE. Galderma the manufacturer replaced "Gentle Cleansing Antibacterial Bar" ... BEWARE. Galderma the manufacturer replaced "Gentle Cleansing Antibacterial Bar" with "Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar" in 2017, so items pictured or labeled as "Antibacterial Bar" are either discontinued or not genuine Cetaphil products made by Galderma, and Galderma always packages products in sealed wraps, so what others are describing here as funny-smelling bars in unsealed boxes, are NOT real. Per the manufacturer’s FAQ: "I CAN'T FIND MY OLD CLEANSING BAR. WHAT HAPPENED? Cetaphil® Gentle Cleansing Anti-Bacterial Bar has been replaced with a newly reformulated bar and is now called the Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar. The name is new, but the Cetaphil quality and gentleness you expect are the same. The Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Bar deeply cleans and removes dirt, oil and other impurities without stripping the skin. It's non-comedogenic, non-irritating and suitable for all skin types. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PREVIOUS ANTI-BACTERIAL BAR AND THE NEW CETAPHIL DEEP CLEANSING BAR? We have removed triclosan and triclocarbon, and have formulated the Deep Cleansing Bar with 5 nourishing ingredients to gently cleanse without stripping or drying the skin. This change is part of a larger plan to phase out the use of triclosan and triclocarbon across all our products by the end of 2017. WHY WAS THE CHANGE NECESSARY? Even though both ingredients have proven to be safe and have yet to show any bacterial resistance, we've found that we can provide an ingredient solution that consumers prefer to use to care for their skin.

Hello :) You can use it to clean your hands and prevent the spread of it, yes. Suppose that's what you mean. Make sure that you are using it properly. You can also use a hand sanitizer, but I am not sure if this is more effective.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet 2 жыл бұрын
that's such bullshit, sorry. On the contrary, it is great to do this; it helps to remove the cleanser from the skin properly. Make sure to use a soft clean microfiber towel whenever you wash your face. And one tip I can give you is please stop watching the channels/articles/videos sharing such misinformation.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet A towel could be looking clean but in reality, a tremendous amount of dust, dirt, oil, dead skin cells, or even makeup can get collected in a cloth towel They then would be acting as a good breeding ground for harmful bacteria. i’m not saying that you have a dirty towel just to be careful wipe your skin with (soft) tissue

@@H.duhswagishwudihwdjdjos Yes, of course. That could be the same with your clothes, so let's say you wear the same shirt for a few days. Nobody does that. Therefore you wash it. You use the towel; you wash it. The same goes for the sink; you clean it after each use, don't you?

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet 2 жыл бұрын
This depends on your makeup. Light makeup, yes. However, if it is thicker, or in general heavier or even water-resistant, probably not. It's best to use a makeup remover beforehand and then use the soap to get the rest of the skin.
