I always use the niacinamide solution and then cerave moisturizer after the peel. I’m surprised TO team doesn’t recommend using niacinamide since it’s generally a very well tolerated ingredient.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet4 жыл бұрын
Yes my book (Cosmeceuticals and Cosmetic Ingredients) says the following: "Niacinamide can be used in conjunction with retinoids sunscreens, hydroxy acids, and other ingredients without concern for cross-reactivity.." However, because they said that you shouldn't use it, I went with what they said. I tried it now multiple times, and I never had any issues.
@lolaflores31974 жыл бұрын
I did some research about it, and one of the reasons I found on why not to use Niacinamide after any chemical exfoliants is that these kind of exfoliants have a certain pH and if you use Niacinamide after them, Niacinamide will alter the pH and the exfoliants will not have the same results as they supposed to have. You can keep using it after the peeling, nothing will happen.

Hello Oana 🙂 , great to hear. However, if the stinging and tingling become to much, you either need to reduce the time or stop using the product. Otherwise, it can lead to irritation. Monique Celis Hello👋 I only rinse it off with water, but if you are paranoid (which I totally get) you can always rinse it off with a cleanser afterwards. Just make sure that if you cleanse your face before putting the mask on, you have to use a gentle cleanser or else you will probably overly strip your face. My advice is to use this 1-2 times a month, and instead use the lactic acid from the ordinary 3 times a week which is much better in my opinion. With that you just leave it on without washing it off. But in general you should always remember not to over exfoliate🙌

I use this under my eyes (or what you refer to as the eye contour) because that’s my problem area. I get clusters of really tiny bumps under my eyes and across my nose. Based on some research I’ve done, I think it’s called milia and this peeling solution has really helped. Edit: I’ve also consistently used niacinamide every night even on the nights when I use the peeling solution. I didn’t know they weren’t supposed to be used together 😧 I haven’t had any reactions though but I might consider not using it when I exfoliate.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet4 жыл бұрын
Hey, interesting 🤔 Well, it says that you should really avoid the eye contour since the skin is very thin, and it could easily cause irritation. But since it works for you, I wouldn't bother. Niacinamide does not have any conflicts, so it's fine to use. But since the mask can be drying, it's not recommended to use it after it. Again, if your skin can tolerate it, you can continue with it. It can be quite harsh if you are a beginner and have never used any acids before.

Hey :) Don't forget to use a gentle cleanser, and gently wash your face. I do not recommend washing your face with a brush when using the peeling solution afterwards, this can be too much for the skin. Did it hurt all those 10min along or just in the beginning? You don't need to use the Ordinary moisturiser specifically! It's fine to use it with the products you already have at home! I'm glad that you have had a good experience with the peeling solution :)

Tonight will be the first time using the peel solution. Its been a few days doing my routine. So far my skin is so soft and smooth. I have some texture issues that been bugging me, and i noticed its getting better ( im 53 years old). Tonight it be simple, the peel, the hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil or moisturizer. Very impressed with this line. More impressed and appreciative for you in guiding me and the rest of us, in having a full understanding of how to do it. You are my go to girl❤

HAHA😅 I think everyone feels confused and excited when they first see and want to try out the Ordinary products. I used to feel the same way. I tried this before finding out about your video. I cleansed first and pat dry my face then applied a dear klairs toner then Aha bha, no less than 10 seconds applying the aha bha I felt itching on my face, I rinsed it off right away that's when I realized that I should watch tutorial first on how I should use aha bha 🤦🏻♀️ So I followed your instructions, and viola no itchiness ever, well there is a tingling effect the second time I applied it but it didn't last that long I also washed my face before 10mins and applied Niacinamide then Tarte hydrating boost to finish the whole routine. I didn't applied the toner tho it's good for hydration too. Thanks for the tips!

Thank you Melissa for the thorough video! I've watched other videos where people put gobs on their face and that made me hesitant to use the product . . .to say the least. I did the 24 hour patch test and it looks clear but I do feel a slight burn where I did the test so I'm still hesitant.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet10 ай бұрын
Hey! :) Yes, it can 'sting' (but it shouldn't burn) a bit in the very beginning when being new to it and applying the peeling solution. However, that should fade away pretty quickly. You also don't need to use it for the full 10 minutes at first. You can start with 2-3 minutes before rinsing it off and then, over time, increase the time until your skin tolerates the full 10 minutes. Alternatively, look for a lower strength of exfoliant.

Thank you so much for this in depth CALM vid :-) I do have a question, you mention a couple of time that niacinamide is not recommended (but didn't harm either in your case). I have hyperpigmentation as a result as a badly informed post inflammatory reaction to a beauty peeling (TCA for people interested). Anyways, I've seen a dermatologist and she said it would be fine to treat it with this product (so yeah: that says a lot). But I wondered if i could also, post peel use the ordinary alpha arbutin 2% + hyaloric acid serum. And than the moisterizer. I cannot find it anywhere on the net....(this combination). As it is not on your 'conflict' list specifically I might deduct its no problem, but well...just asking you to be sure. As the arbutin 2% specifically targets pigmentation. Thanks!
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have asked The Ordinary about this since I was not sure. But now I know that it is OK to use Niacinamide after. Niacinamides stability isn’t as good at low pH so in some cases it can cause flushing (turning red after using it and it disappears after +/-1hours according to what I have read!) At that time, I did not know that this was not harmful, so I recommended that people not use it afterwards. Still, I think it is best to use only hydration after the solution, but I have never come across any issues when applying Retinol, Vitamin C, Alpha Arbutin etc. afterwards. But since it may cause problems for some people I just not recommended it. And this video got a few views; therefore, I am happy that I mentioned it 🙂 According to The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin has no conflicts. Therefore you can combine it with any other ingredient. You can check it under The Ordinary Regimen Guide: theordinary.deciem.com/regimenguide Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA Targets Hyper-pigmentation, Dark Spots Format Water-Based Serum Regimen Step Before Oils/Creams Conflicts - Time of Use AM and PM AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Targets Dullness, Textural Irregularities Format Water-Based Serum Regimen Step Use as a masque and rinse off Conflicts Do not combine with Direct Acids, Peptides, Retinoids, Vitamin C (LAA/ELAA), 100% Niacinamide Powder or EUK 134 0.1% Time of Use 1-2 times a week, Ideally PM
