Mellieha Town: Malta | Town & Things To Do

In this video the travel turtles visit the Town of Mellieha Malta for a family holiday. This is a wonderful little town which we stayed at in August. You'll see some things to do such as local bars, The Parish Church of Mellieha, and some town panoramic in this video. We highly recommend this wonderful place if you're planning on staying in Malta.

I spent 5 days in Mellieha. Lovely. Gorgeous old houses to take pics of. A beautiful church. Wonderful little streets to explore. Nice little cafes and bars and not as busy as other parts of Malta. Such a nice, relaxing place to heal my soul. I can't wait to return.

That is good to know as thinking to book a hotel here next month for 5 days. I hope it’s sunny in February and a bit warm I know it won’t he hot but I need a break

As a Dane we are privileged with our own Homebuilt and Designed: Village Area with vacation houses in Mellieha, also with several Restaurants and a Shop, and our own Danish, "Atlantic Airways" flies directly from Copenhagen to Malta Airport. We even have "Danish Calls" to our Plane, when leaving again!!! Years ago we also had a former Danish built ferry sailing between Malta and Gozo!!

Is Mellieha a fairly quiet/ locals area with restaurants and bars? ive been to Malta before but it turned otu to be a busy, touristy area, so we are looking at somewhere a little quieter with some nice bars / restaurants. any advise? Thanks

Hi. Firstly,many thanks for viewing our Mellieha posting. In general,we found the beach vicinity of Mellieha (Ghadira Bay) fairly limited in regards to eateries and bars,maybe a dozen or so establishments consisting of a few local cuisine restaurants,an Indian restaurant and several standard bars serving food,all of which are situated on the main road at the bottom of the hill down from Mellieha town leading to the very popular beach. The beach itself has a couple of large snack bars and a restaurant called Munchies which is actually on the beach and seemed to prove very popular. The beach does get extremely busy being the largest on Malta,proving popular with locals especially at weekends. The Town of Mellieha itself situated on the hillside above the bay provides a little more choice in regards to bars and eateries. The high street which winds up through the centre of the town is fairly steep but does provide the majority of places to take in a meal or a beer. Theres a fairly good selection of local,Mediterranean and Asian eateries available as you wind up through the town and several more up on the top of the hill where its somewhat flatter but the main road itself in regards to traffic always seemed quite busy. The church square is somewhat more quieter and a few bars and restaurants can also be found here. @Sir Lance Goodthrust im from mellieha and they always ring an excessive amount before/during holidays or feasts. But other times they just play every hour for 2 minutes. So i don't think calling someone retarded is mature.

I am thinking to book this area as saw a deal on the Solana hotel 🏨 in this region. I am going as a solo traveller 🧳 female, I imagine it is peaceful and safe place? Is there a port with ferry to take you to the other islands such as Gozo ?

Hi Jillian....Malta in general is a very safe place to visit and we found no particular issues there when we visited. There is an excellent public bus system in Malta which is very reasonably priced and covers all of the island. Frequent buses travel through Mellieha Town center right next to the Solano hotel in fact and the beach area at the bottom of the hill on route to the ferry terminal to Gozo and also all other major locations on the island.
