Mellody Hobson and Jeffrey Katzenberg Talk Bravery in Business

UCLA Anderson honored Mellody Hobson, co-CEO and president of Ariel Investments, with the 2019 John Wooden Global Leadership Award in recognition of her principled business leadership and board service. She acknowledged Jeffrey Katzenberg, founder and chairman of Quibi, as a mentor and “business lifeline.” A passionate advocate for financial literacy and investor education, Hobson told the UCLA Anderson audience, “Fear leads people to shrink instead of lean in to the opportunities at hand. Being brave is not the absence of fear, it’s overcoming fears.”
