Hey guys. In this video, we'll be taking a look at a new piece of software called Melodics. It's basically Guitar Hero, but instead of wasting your time on a plastic guitar, you're learning and developing live performance skills on actual midi devices in your studio. Take you're Ableton DJ set to the next level with a live finger drumming routine or keyboard routine!
Yes I was paid to do this video, but I get emails all the time from companies offering money for promotion on my youtube channel. I turn most of these offers down. But there are a few that just make me say, "damn that's a good idea!" This is one of those times.

This is great for training. I perform my tracks live and was using Arius videos to learn and practice. ( I use APC 40 mini, Maschine, and an Axiom 25) The more i practice for a show, I've noticed the easier it is to quickly make new drums in production phase. The more reasons to practice the better!

Siiick, glad to see your midi fighter in action! This is super rad, I've done some follow action stuff with midi out in ableton, but it isn't nearly as clean as this. Very cool.

siiiick reminds me of Synthesia but I love the addition of finger drumming to the instrument roster. Any idea how it works for a completely custom instrument? Something like Wintergatan's Modulin for example?

Does it even teach notation though or tell what notes you are playing? Drum notation? Seems like a game and nothing more

how is the push 2 for performing? I play piano and my friend has a couple pushs thinking of borrowing his for this. I have an apc40 mkii that i used this with this program for drumming but the apc is awful for that kind of performance. The faders are in the way and the pads are also terrible on your fingers

Is it actually helpful to have a launchpad/midi-pad for production? Most people seem to use it to play drums or similar one-shot kind of sounds. In a non-live scenario I don't really get what the advantage is compared to a normal midi-keyboard except for preference I guess...

more a preference fun thing, could be helpful ;) I use push2 and love it, but still do a lot with mice and keyboard..

I personally don't use my midi-pads for production very often, but i think having a midi keyboard, midi pads and something with knobs or sliders in your studio is a must.

As I said, my friend custom made it for me. He works for DJ Tech Tools. You can't buy them but look him up. "GB Midi"

You can't buy that exact unit. But you can get a generic one from DJ Tech Tools or go with the 8x8 version :) www.midifighter.com/

Well I'm gonna stay on 9.7 and miss the 20% discount for preorders.) I'm gonna try to use 9 to the full, there are lots of stuff I don't use yet. I use it in Tamdem with Logic and also rewire both. Latest Logic update is free so I get quite a good set for 0. Maybe they'll have a summer sale, they sometimes do and then we'll see.
