That is question on Mr. Romero who composed the music. My humble opinion is that he was inspired by some baroque score created for Louis XIV? Not sure but you can ask him directly on his YT, hes a kind person :)

I am sitting in my room and making my childhood dream come true - creating a fantasy board game for my children, friends, and everybody who wants to enjoy it. And at the same time I am listening to best fantasy soundtrack ever created. I was fortunate enough to see Paul Anthony Romero in concert and it brought so much joy to me 20 years later, making me reminisce about my own childhood where these fantasy worlds were something I would lose myself in for hours... This is an amazing feeling that makes us realize that it's all within ourselves.

Nope, YT will automaticly downgrade the sound quality :( I had it in 320 kbps FLAC (CD quality) but no way to get it here. Maybe in the near future they will allow higher sound quality.

I suggest you try heroes 3 (which you've probably had suggested before) but also, homm4 is really good, it's just overshadowed because its the sequel to what lots of people consider a cornerstone of ~2000 gaming That said I gotta say, heroes 5 was my fav to play with my brother way back when

Each game soundtrack is nothing but simply amazing. But Heroes II & III are taking the cake for me. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe it's classic vibe, but I think that late 90's Paul Anthony Romero was both simple and sophisticated at the same time.

Heroes iV - Wandering, I think the insiration was the same as for The Witcher III - The Fields of Ard Skellig :). Also Heroes IV - Floating Across Water sounds similar to Skyrim - A Winter's Tale
