The underdog star of this show is Titti. 14:20 Just look at those back-up singers no less. And the young boys enthusiasm after the performance says it all. She got over a hundred votes, which kinda explains Sweden in 1974. And just try and get that song out of your head after listening to it twice. I dare you. Cute as a button too.

Song nr 1: 6 pts. Good singer, nice tune. Song nr 2: 4 pts. Great singer, charming but out-of-date song. Song nr 3: 3 pts. Just boring. Nice lyrics, though. Song nr 4: 8 pts. Great singer (the daughter of Alice Babs, ESC-58), charming tune. Song nr 5: 12 pts. What can you say - a truly classic. Modern for it's time. Song nr 6: 12 pts. A great, happy and typical Swedish tune. Love it! Song nr 7: 1 pt. Good singer, totally useless song. Song nr 8: 7 pts. Well, this one is quite good. Good singers. Song nr 9: 5 pts. Like the song. But the performance is all over the place... Song nr 10: 10 pts. Nice tune, strong singers, bad outfits ;) Well deserved winner!

In the Contest's earlier years, singers had to sing in an official language from their country (i.e. Germans had to sing in German, Swedish singers had to sing in Swedish, and so on). This rule was dropped in 1973 (restored in 1977 but dropped again in 1999); the 1974 Contest saw six countries (including Sweden) sing their songs in English.

Possibly because more people speak English than Swedish so by singing in English it had wider appeal.

usually i do like swedish sung songs.. but with Waterloo it sounds really odd and not very "fluent"...
