Agreed 100%. Chuck could blend absolute tonal, pitch, and timing excellence with soul and love for the music. I'm aware of no other jazz player who has managed that to the extent Chuck did, as they almost never go together. Chuck's playing was, IMHO, a gift from God.

In the world of music I can have EXPECTATIONS that will ALWAYS BE MET! When I listen to JAMES BROWN, TOWER OF POWER, THE METERS, I CAN EXPECT TO HEAR THE "FUNKIEST" GROOVES known to mankind, When I listen to FOURPLAY I can expect and prepare myself to listen to most of the cuts over & over again and everytime I hear the same tune, I KNOW I'm going to hear something I missed the first, second, third, forth and so on, time around! MUSIC NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL LET ME DOWN OR LEAVE ME HANGING! BUT IT ALWAYS LEAVES ME WANTING "MORE!!!!"
