Ah, now you taught me something new! I was literally mixing something a couple of days ago and the tuning didn't seem quite right. I remembered this video and checked the piano and it was 440.5hz. Although a tiny difference it made everything sound every so slightly out. Loving these quick tips.

It's so obvious that I've never checked the tuning of the tracks!... Thanks for all your good advice, I'm going to put it into practice on my current mix.

Without these tidbits, I would have never realized there is flexibility to address issues I might have encountered, especially tuning. Thank you!

This is very handy. I worked on an album where the singer/songwriter's keyboard was offset by several cents but the display was burnt out so we didn't realize it at first. What I ended up doing is using a frequency generator and adjusting it by ear to match the piano. Later in the project I discovered that Melodyne could have just told me the offset with one click.

If a client wanted to tune the song to 432 hz this makes it so easy to see and adjust stems to what the client wants.

Absolutely! Please give it a try and let us know how it works for you.

Hi! Great stuff, really. But I got a rather exotic question, concerning a much older version of Melodyne - actually Melodyne 3. There you had the option of MIDI-export including note envelope and pitch drift. As I learned from your support, this feature had been taken down with Melodyne 4. But why, on earth? That's been very cool and useful for experimental sounds! I miss that so much! Ok, I could try and get the Melodyne 3 file - demo - and install it with compatibility tools: compatible to Windows 7. But with the demo, I can't save the MIDI Data. Even worse, I can't apparently buy a license to make it a full version. But I need it..... What can I do, please? Thankx.

Not sure I understand this. Are we saying that if the piano is a bit flat. . we need to make sure the singer's tuning is also a bit flat to match the piano tuning? We do this by taking the Hertz measurement of the piano that Melodyne provides?
@celemonyАй бұрын
either this way (as you say): make sure the mastertuning adapts to the flat piano, so that the editing of the singer is matching that. Or: tune the piano properly before editing the vocal. Which, btw, isn't covered in this video, but makes me think of adding a video on exactly that workflow. Thanks for this impulse ;-) - Stefan

@@celemony Thanks for the clarification. Sure I'd like to see a video on tuning a piano or guitar that was a bit flat or sharp after it was already recorded.

The analysis in Melodyne wasn’t really designed for full stereo mixes, but you can still give it a try.

I can't find the shortcut for Compare(The bottom at the upper left corner), can you help me? Thanks.
@celemonyАй бұрын
The Compare button is only available in the ARA version of Melodyne. So probably you’re not using ARA?
@xiaoZhang123Ай бұрын
@@celemonyI'm using ARA version, and I can get Compare by clicking the button, just wondering if there's a shortcut to do that, it will help my overall workflow tremendously.(I 've tried to customize a shortcut but Compare didn't appear on the menu.) Thanks for replying.

Is this function included in Essential version?
@celemonyАй бұрын
yes it is. Only one extra step needed there: Looking at a polyphonic instrument, e g. a piano, in Melodyne essential will per default display it in the Universal algorithm. You must switch that manually to one of the polyphonic algorithms in order to see the full polyphony. The Blobs then will be grey, because in Melodyne essential it is not possible to edit individual notes inside a polyphonic file. But finding the original tuning as demonstrated in this video is fully functional on grey Blobs too.
