I am from South Louisiana, which is known world wide as delicious food. The reason is our native people are multiracial/multicultural and our food reflects our heritage.

Grew up eating this as a side dish, cabbage is like onion, if you cook it really hot with butter it gets sweet.

@ChelleLlewes grandmother's cooking makes Gordon Ramsey's cooking taste like Waffle House. Lol My grandmother was full blooded Indian (blackfoot) bit she cooked like an Italian chef. And she made killer cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, and canned her own stuff. She was a 5 star chef without the restaurant. Lol

Mom would make cabbage rolls with a mixture of mince, rice and spices stuffed inside. She would then fry them brown on both sides, then cover them with tomato juice and cook them for an hour. Old family favorite.

This looks good. As long as there's at least chopped cabbage, onions, butter and bacon then it's a good start. Many like to use some of the bacon grease as well. Everyone has their own way. I like to just barely cook mine so that it still has a crunch but some like it really soft.

Naveed, it’s not just America that experiments with foods and cooking methods, that happens in most countries. Each country has its own styles and flavours, but there are a lot of similarities too. There was a movie called “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe”. This made me do some research on the recipe for them! You should try that dish! I live in Australia and we have British heritage, but we also have migrants from all around the world, who live here and set up restaurants here, giving Aussies a wide variety of foods to enjoy!

It's kind of a misnomer. If you put some butter in a skillet and then throw in a head of chopped cabbage, a ton of water cooks out of it. Put a lid on it and it basically steams in it's own juices.
