I left my profile as married, pictures show that I'm elderly & they start telling me how beautiful I am, (I know I'm not) what a beautiful smile I have..ect.. They tell me to send them friend request. ( i don't) Couple just flat out ask if I can still send them Google play cards or phone cards. (I CERTAINLY do not) At first I was upset & wondered how they can get on my Facebook page without my permission or sent request..but now I know they can manage that, I've been told/ explained to me but now I don't remember..( remember I'm old..lol.) I do have money in a savings account from selling my home when my husband died, & as I say often, nobody is going to get any of that money except myself, my 2 sons & 3 granddaughters. My sister (she 75 yrs old but don't act or look it ) & I like to shop sometimes once a week & eat lunch & just have fun acting like we have good sense.

I flew home a few days ago and there was a woman at the airport that had flown in from Texas days before. She had been staying at the airport for days waiting for the man she had never met to be released from a private hospital or for friends he would send to pick her up. She had sent him money over a period of several months and had flown in to take care of him when he finally got out of the hospital. She said he had no siblings and his parents had passed so he was alone, she was all he had. I told her there was a very good chance she was being scammed... after I retrieved my luggage and went back outside she was gone. I do hope she is safe and has since returned home.

That whole confession thing is part of the scam. I’ve seen it multiple times. It just makes it easier for the scammer by not having to keep up the ruse. He didn’t have feelings for her. Luckily my mom kept me in the loop, and when he asked for money I said hell no. She didn’t give him any money and he quit talking to her. My husband works for a grocery store and they have Western Union and he said lots of elderly women come in and want to send money overseas. They will refuse to send the money if the women sending it doesn’t know the person and have not met the person. The women get so mad when they refuse to send the money, but the grocery stores are trying to prevent the money being sent. Great show. ☀️

I have seen so many shows where the old ladies ignore or get angry at all warnings amd cautions - and then complain that they weren't warned enough and the bank should have stopped them! So hypocritical. You can see why it is hard to prosecute when the person wants and insists on doing what they choose with their own money.
@marciloni124 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used to work in customer service and I processed Western Union transactions. As my position required online training for Western Union transactions, I learned that as well, to prevent theft and money laundering. This one particular woman started coming in to send $200 to Nigeria, about twice a month, so I asked her what the purpose of the transaction was and she said: I can do what I want with my money and asked to speak to my manager who allowed it. So, moral of the story, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help.

I can still remember going to Cyprus as a 15 year old with mum. I was swimming with her and a waiter started smiling at me . I i was very shy and it felt embarassing but at the same time a little part of me was flattered. He came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go for a drink with him. My mum was furious ( she was late 40s at time ) and told him in no uncertain terms that young girls like me didnt go out with grown men . He turned round to mum and said Oh Im sorry you want to go out with me yes ? Put me off mediterranean waiters for life!!!

They’re lonely and vulnerable! I’ve been twice. First time when I was young (19), second time married for 37 years. In the UK, it happened when social security payments ceased to be considered something that you only turn to in times when you have no other option, and became an acceptable way of life generally. I am fully in support of the welfare state, especially looking back on times when children would starve. But honestly? I've been fleeced by partners only too happy to be completely inactive. There's an old-fashioned joke about marriage, "making a decent woman of her" -- but if you really look at it, a "kept woman" had no choice ... they were either not allowed to work at all, or only in certain limited circumstances. He said the hotel he's in is going to throw him out if he doesn't come up with $42.00. I figure, if he's going to need more than $42 to stay there until the snow storm subsides so this must be food money he's trying to get. Then unless he's in an old run down Motel, WHAT HOTEL CHARGES A RATE OF $42/ Night??? The guys, most of the time lie about who they are, their job, what they look like, their marital status, their intentions. So, they lie about everything to get a woman to develop fondness for him. Once he can see that she cares about him? The lies unravel slowly, like the analogy of, "How to boil a frog." Women fall in love with what they hear, guys fall in love (though it's 99% lust) with what they see. So, guys lie & women wear makeup. It's sad, yet, true.

Online dating can be difficult for the uninitiated. Some basic rules to avoid time wasters and scammers: 1. If there is any reason for a meeting in person to be some way off such as the person being in a far flung part of the world, walk away. 2. If a meeting in person doesn’t happen soon after starting conversation, it probably never will. I think that two refusals/excuses is a good rule of thumb. 3. When chatting online don’t get overly emotionally drawn in. Just talk about the kind of person you are and what you’re looking for - and then either meet in person or not. 4. See “online dating” as a phrase, not a reality. Actual dating only happens in person - and if that isn’t happening, stop contact.

The first sign to end a relationship is when they ask for money. I was speaking to someone for a few months, the moment he asked for money and immediately cut him off. Never, ever give money.

I've been a widow for 20 years now. My dearly beloved husband died in 2000. I'm still grieving his death. We'd been married for 35 years, after going out for 5 years before (the way we did those things then). I was also a church member and the older ladies suddenly clustered around me with newspaper reports of 80-year old old-age homers being married. I've not remarried, nor been on any dating sites. Now I'm sincerely grateful!!!!

@@sounds0fmeows I simply don't think that I'll ever again meet a man so honest and kind and loving, of me and of our three children And over many years of teaching I've met a few thousand men). To me, he was a prince among men.

Yeah, I've been out there and online dating is a sh**show. I've been single for nearly 15 years, and I'm okay with it. I like living alone.

Perry Skye Phoenix I miss my prince, but why would I even try to replace him? Anyway, he was my bridge to the rest of the world. because I am, by nature, a hermit. (Tiny flat, many books, few clothes, no meetings, not even a cell 'phone ...)

Red Flag issues . As this lady said calling you dear, honey BUT asking for money or gift cards. I do not understand why a person would give money that as a young person or couple that you have save and invested for your retirement even when your spouses passes b4 you.. It amazes me that a man/ woman would give their money away so willingly. This just boggles my mind . Soon they will be living in a friend's garage...

Another clue: Their English isn’t good, usually. I had an army General with terrible spelling, grammar and punctuation. Duh!

And if they are from Nigeria they usually write "Am" rather than "I Am", that's just what they do.. maybe the smart catfish avoid it though, no idea... But anyway, always easy to tell by reading their terrible english, yeah.

But in my case the Nigerian was exceptionally good in English and knowledge of geography of Afghanistan, well aware of the latest happenings. I think he underwent scamming course for years

I don't know why you think an American army General might be good in grammar and spelling- most armed forces personnel are very poorly educated, even at the highest levels.
