I add a small amount of coconut oil, it helps with the lather with the base I use. It also makes it smell GREAT. I use soap colouring, NEVER use food colouring. When using mica powder find one that in corperates well and never use craft glitter. When using molds try to find one that dosn't have little details as sometin=mes it wont come out XX

Thank you so much for making this video! With all the information that is available online it's hard to determine what is accurate and what isn't. You are one of my go to trusted sources for information (and trust me when I say that I research until I'm cross eyed)❤ this was very helpful and informative. I find that I always have very specific questions that I end up having while I'm making something and never have anybody to ask to find answers. In this video I found some answers to some of those specific questions! Thanks again and God bless!

Melt and pour soap is just soap, so it's not dangerous. (It's not like the sodium hydroxide used to make cold process soap, which is dangerous until it fully reacts with oils to form soap.)

Hi. I recently started making melt & pour soaps. I use the johnsson brand. I have started with the clear base. I use 2 different sets of essential oils and liquid colourants. My question is: after a few uses, is the soap meant to lose it's colour?. Also how do you make it so that each time you make the same soap, stay the same colour?. Xx

If the melt and pour bases are forming a skin before you pour them into your mold, you can heat them for a few more seconds and stir. This should dissolve the skin back into the soap base.

Can I add Shea butter to melt and pour soap. If so how much per pound?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 2 жыл бұрын
You can usually add a small amount of extra oils and butters to melt and pour. We recommend using a maximum of 1 tablespoon of extra oil or butter per pound of soap. Any more and you might end up with soaps that are sticky and soft. That being said, if you're wanting the moisturizing properties of shea butter in your melt and pour soap, we offer a Shea Butter Melt and Pour base on our website: www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-product/ingredients/bases/melt-and-pour-soap/sfic-shea-melt-and-pour-soap-base/V000756.html

We recommend mixing both charcoal and titanium dioxide with alcohol before adding it to the melt and pour base. You can premix and store it, though you will want to give it a quick mix before adding to your batch to ensure it is all still homogenous.

If I don't have a microwave, how do I use/melt down melt-and-pour?
@Ali626AMM
@Ali626AMM 4 жыл бұрын
You can use a double boiler on the stove. I'll do that if I'm making a bigger batch because I find all the soap doesn't melt consistently in the microwave without stopping constantly to stir. Just put an inch of water in a pot and then a glass or metal bowl on top that doesn't touch the water. Heat the water to simmering and pop on the bowl with the soap. The smaller you cut the pieces the faster it will melt. JUST DON'T FORGET THE BOWL WILL BE HOT! I've also hung a measuring cup over the edge of the pot, but you really have to watch that. Good luck. I hope that helps you.

While you can add fixed oils or butters to the melt and pour base, we don’t recommend adding much, if any. The bases are already made with luxurious oils and butters. The more you add to the base, the more the consistency will change. The lather will start to decrease or you could end up with a softer bar of soap. Because of this, we don’t add more than 1 teaspoon of extra oils per pound of soap base.
