I COMPLETELY relate.. I made the decision to not have kids because I can not handle that high level of responsibility. I also understand feeling "psychopathic" for not having those desires. I see it as knowing yourself and your limits very well. I think it is a very self aware choice to make and more responsible and caring of you to not have kids knowing that you don't have the desires to have one. Some people have children and ultimately that child leads a less than desirable life because the mother realizes its not the path she wanted.

I'm a daycare teacher studying education and I have always wanted to be a mother, it is hard for me to understand not wanting kiddos but I completely respect it and know that you will do amazing things with the extra time you will have! My passion is kids/early education so I will follow thjat, and I am praying you do everything you want to do as well. :)

*I don't have the motherly instinct at all either, but the weird thing is I do like kids, just in smaller doses. I think the reason I'm so anti-motherish is bc I am a huge tomboy, and I'm much more tough love than nurturing. And also I haven't met anyone I'd want to "settle down" with or have babies with, although I respect others who do want to be mothers and I think it's beautiful. So I can completely relate to this video, and our goals are pretty similar with guitar and focusing on youtube!* excited to keep up with you in 2020 :D

I have the same situations I am married and joining the Air Force. My husband is a civilian so I have to answers to society all those questions about why I want to be part of the AF and not my husband and after all the question they ask or I guess the topic starts by default. When I say I don’t want kids people usually gets like insulted or offended... they say things like Wao you are selfish, family isn’t only two and things like that. I had to make my peace with it and built up this answers so now when the situation presents my husband and I said... we don’t wanna have kids we wanna enjoy our marriage and our goals... you aren’t going to be taking care of my kid and... also it will be very selfish to have one kid just to pleased society without having the stability mentally and financially to deal with it. This is a topic is able to make me angry easily because people push you to answer... but thanks to bring it up is nice to see woman that thinks the same... also Elora I miss more AF videos 😘🥰 (Merry Christmas 🎄)

I feel you. I really never had the desire to have kids, never even gotten excited about the thought of it. I like how you said, you don’t have that motherly instinct cause same lol I hate when people say you’ll change your mind, it’s so degrading to my choice. I honestly want someone to give me a legitimate explanation as to why they want kids, since I always have to explain why I don’t lmao

I feel you 100% on the babies thing! I feel like I have no desire whatsoever to have children. I could never imagine being pregnant or having to go through pregnancy. And I agree! I hate the comments "you'll want them one day" "just wait" etc. ughh makes me so mad.

I 100% relate on the kids thing. I have no desire to be a parent anytime in my foreseeable future and I never have. I have a super intense stressful job already and I dont want to add to that stress. as for my goals, it's to go back to school to become a paramedic and to save for my dream car

I am right there with ya on the kid thing!!!! I got my dogs and that is enough for me! I get the same thing when I tell people I dont want kids. The world is populated enough by the people who say they thought the same thing.... 🙄

I also completely understand you not wanting kids. I have a two year old and things are so difficult sometimes having to balance work with having a kid. Sometimes I have to stay home from work or ask my husband if he can (he’s AD too) due to her being sick, appointments, CDC being closed, etc.. and doing a ditty move half way across the country was an interesting adventure😅 It’s completely normal not to want kids too hun and if that’s what’s best for you then that’s what’s best! Children are expensive, extremely high maintenance, and they all have their own different personalities. Pregnancy and adoption are so stressful too. Don’t ever let anyone tell you anything to put you down about not wanting kids!

I feel the same way about not wanting kids. I honestly would rather spend my life traveling the world and doing whatever I want to do. That probably sounds selfish. I know people picture their life being fulfilled with a spouse and kids, which is totally fine and amazing! But I just see my life fulfilled in other ways.

Angie Copaus thats exactly how I feel! I really wanna travel and do my own thing without having a constant responsibility to go back to. I really like my independence and being free to do what I want when I want.

11:11 Hey Elora, Professional Development Guide(PDG) and Specialty Knowledge Test(SKT). You will test both unless you are exempt from SKT (eg: retraining, CDC rewrite, Special Duty. If I remember right, you can elect to decline taking SKT, but why would you?) Each test is 100 questions, worth 1 point each. If you are testing PDG only, they will take your score and double it. Questions?

Tbh I completely get your fear about kids. I'm not sure I want kids, I actually watched my parents fall apart because my brother drowned and passed away so that's a fear of mine that like if I had a kid and they died like that would be devastating. I honestly thing kids dying in my family is some kind of curse. My dad's twin died at 2 months from SIDS, my brother drowned at 2 years old, and another family member of mine had her son die a few years after my brother (he was 2 years old when he died too) from choking on a french fry. I think the universe has just made it known that kids (boys in particular) don't make it for very long in our family unfortunately. So maybe I'll adopt one day. Maybe one day you'll decide to adopt kids or maybe you'll stay kidless and get to travel and do all the stuff you want without the worry of kids

Elora, I can relate with you about not wanting kids. They are so much work and stress and I don't like them (they're just really annoying to deal with in my opinion). I'm also really awkward around them lol like I don't know how to interact with them. But who knows, I'm only 17 so maybe I might change my mind in the future

Hi Elora, I love your videos sooo much. I actually send a comment one of your videos like a year old video of you, but I'll send here again anyway. your videos help me to be confident as a woman to join that kinda field (US Airforce). I'm planning to join the Airforce and study the ASVAB. I've been doing some searching and google of what's the exam will be. I finished my high School and college back then but I just need to review. I've been a housewife and took care of my husband for 5 yrs. I am 32yrs of age. I'm planning to have a nursing degree but I have financial difficulty so, I decided to want to join the Airforce. My question is did the recruiter give you the ASVAB handbook? or you already have a handbook from your Dad? or borrow from the library? I'm desperate. How's the nursing/medical services job inside the base? (you don't have to answer it). If you know anybody that in Medical/nursing job, it is good as a reservist or active duty? If you don't like my question your can delete this. Thank you!

There is no ASVAB book that the recruiter gives. I do not believe she studied for it. She just took the test without preparing. So did I. It is easy when you have just gotten out of high school. I would say just google the best asvab studying tools i’m sure there’s online practice tests. or go to the library. And whether you should go active duty just depends on your goals. Go active if you are okay with moving your whole family across country and being stationed somewhere that is not very desirable and working a full time job. Reserve is only “part time” working 1 weekend a month and a full 2 weeks one time out of the year. you can still be deployed so also be ready for that possibility. The aerospace medical job is basically like being an LPN minus the certification. You can have the test paid for while you are in. And also you get your EMT certification and could be working in an ER.
