Hey buddy, the "slag" or "dross" why is there always so much when melting aluminum? About half of everything I melt floats off as dross, and it's non magnetic, so presumably still aluminum..... I wonder if I can sell the dross itself to the scrap yard with my oversized aluminum 🤷🏼♂️

Specifically aluminum cans have quite a bit of slag. Mostly because the cans have paint, plastic, etc. Included with the production of them. So when you melt them, all the impurities will float to the top to be skimmed. There usually is quite a bit of aluminum in the slag. I usually melt the slag once or twice to extract as much aluminum as possible. Whatever is left is trash. I hope this helps. 👍
