I'm looking at starting smelting copper any tips and tricks? How do you find the forge I'm between that and a electric 1

When I started I used an electric forge for about a year then I upgraded to a gas and I think that was the best way for me. The electric was a lot cheaper aswell

@@meltingipswich price wise they are about the same bit running costs how long does a bottle of gas last you/cost

@@motorbikemitch it’s not just the unit I’m talking about the cost I’m talking about all equipment so you crucible’s tongs lifters fire bricks and also the gas. The gas can last a few melts with aluminium but if your melting copper you used double the amount of gas. Benefit of gas forge is that you can do larger ingots 😄

@@meltingipswich 3kg over 10kg is quite the step! But I'm starting with copper maybe do a small bit of brass bit I do want to do aluminium
