I use the grocers bags stuffedinto square metal pipes to form beams to use like wood but without the shortcomings of wood. it doesn't rout, warp, needs no paint as it comes in many colors, and when it gets old just remelt it again and again.

depends on the type and intended application. even aluminum has a shrink of 10% on castings.
