in 9:05 i think my Netflix subs Toru says "do you think the sakura (Kono) asked the snow (Yuki) to melt?" i think it hit hard that way to me and the point Toru was making all this time ..... my mans emotionally understood the whole situation i love Toru

That quote Sengoku made really hits hard sometimes no one's really in the wrong and everyone's feelings are justified Yuki as a character intrigued me when I saw her she knew the type of person she was that being selfish and it's something she struggled with since she was a child some people tend to deny there rights and wrongs alot she knew its something she can't control and hates herself for it but at the same time that personality isn't always bad being selfish can be good sometimes in the right sense in this case her wanted to be with Toru it was selfish what she did to Sakura but at the same time it landed her something SHE really wanted

Just wanna put it out there, Yuki purposefully spoke misinformation knowing it'd hurt Sakura and in turn Sakura didn't even allow Ishikawa to say his response as well as sticking to Yuki's plan, cus he's a pretty chill guy.

Poor Sakura... She deserved better. I mean, she was the first one who initiated connection towards Tohru, showing affection and making an effort. There was no sign of Yuki being in love with Tohru, it just happened when they started pretending to be lovers. I can say it's pretty realistic that Tohru would choose Yuki because they've been together for a very long time, but I thought they were just best friends. "Life is unfair", this episode pretty much sums up that quote.

I wouldn’t say that at all: Yoshikawa was friends with Tooru long before Sakura even knew he existed. She has always been at his side, and they always cared about each other. They didn’t just suddenly form a connection at the pretend boyfriend arc, and it’s heavily implied if not outright stated that Tohru loved Yoshikawa as well, but made no effort to confess out of desire not to ruin the friendship they’d built together if she rejected him) My point is basically, Sakura was rejected long before she even got feelings for him in the first place, and I feel bad for her. She’s an adorable girl and deserves all the happiness in the world, but there’s no such thing as “deserving” someone more than someone else. That’s not how love or human connection works.

He's been friends with Yuki for a long long time, way longer than Sakura and him even knew the other existed, they've cared for one another for a long time it just took until Miyamura and Hori started dating for them to start spending even more time together and grow closer and start having romantic feelings for one another built upon the strong foundations of their long time friendship, that's why it's realistic for Toru to be in love with Yuki and not Sakura because he has a much more intimate relationship with Yuki, and he barely knows Sakura. It sucks for Sakura sure but she doesn't "deserve" him more than Yuki does, Toru unfortunately just doesn't like Sakura the way she does him.

I would also add to the comments before me (they are all very good and clear answers; I like them) that it was even shown throughout the whole series that Yuki and Toru likes each other. They were always touching each other (the head pats and stuff), and they were shown to be really close to each other from the start. They were just some small interactions tho, so I don't blame anyone who didn't notice them. But they were everywhere.

As much of an idiot as Toru is he is remarkably perceptive. He seems to notice all the small changes in the people around hims emotional state and adjusts his actions accordingly. Miyamura seems awk because hes dating Hori? quickly reaffirm that its fine and youl get past it. Yuki made shit food but she burned herself doing it? eat it and urge her to keep going if its something she wants to do. Yuki is upset that Sakura has feelings for Toru, worries shel be put on the back burner? Reaffirm that Sakura isnt an obstacle for her.

I also wanted Yuki to at least spend some time with Yagani, give him a chance! But sadly that's never happened ever in the history of anime, if a character has even the shallowest of feels towards someone that is the only one in existence and no amount of clicking with someone else can change that. I'm not sure why tho, so many times a side character has been SOOOO much better than the chosen love interest, but never has a MC found themselves liking that person more :/ I get the most annoyed when the love interest is some tsundere that screams and abuses the MC meanwhile some wholesome super nice side character gets ignored. That's not how life is :S

Oh life is exactly like that actually, one doesn't choose who they love based on outward attributes. Otherwise abusive relationships wouldn't exist. Addiction is a big part of modern love's existence.

It is the trope of it being 100% outer attributes and school performance instead of how you vibe with each individual that I get annoyed by. Not the other way around. In anime MC's always choose a love interest based on popularity and academic results it seems, even though they've never even communicated with the person. Even when someone else gets close to the MC and has a much better personality. Anime characters DOES seem to intellectually choose who to love and refuse to stray from that, not develop feelings over time by spending time with each other.

@@taodivinity1556 I would be fine if a story starts out with the MC having a crush on the popular girl but after actually getting to know other girls as individuals slowly becoming more and more infatuated with that character instead. But no, that's not how they do stuff in the anime business.

@@tobiaswedin One of the reasons i really didnt liked how Quintessential Quintuplets ended. Like, i love all the quintuplets, but when i thought the story was going to deviate from the mc first love, it does a big loop and end the same way it started. So all the build up was wasted. I still love the story and the characters, but i really can't get to like the end.

7:45 I TOTALLY disagree. Yuki was a BAD PERSON here. She outright lied to Sakura that she and Tohru were dating. Sakura deserved an honest shot with Tohru even if it failed. Sakura was too honorable to "steal" Tohru while Yuki was was a lying sack of something.

idk, i’m personally not a big fan of the idea that just because someone is nice to you means they deserve a relationship with you. if sakura and toru were together, i think it would be one-sided😔 and sakura definitely deserves someone who loves her as much as she loves them!

@@AlanaMisako I think it's too cliche to believe that. I highly doubt it would be onesided. We can't say for sure how any of these relationships would end and turn out. But in my opinion Sakura deserved Toru's chance more. She accepted herself before confessing unlike Yuki and it's common knowledge it's toxic to love someone without loving yourself first. I should probably pick up the manga to see if Yuki has any progress as a character later but i'm busy reading The Beginning After The End. But yeah afterall these relationships are not supposed to be perfect. Even Miyamura and Hori's relationship isn't without flaws. Hori got a lot of hate back when the anime released because of forcing her fetish on Miya or for what she said in this episode, how she'll accept if he falls for another girl but not for a guy. Personally i didn't think much of it but a lot of people didn't like that
