I can't wait to visit. Been planning for so long. My father fought with the philippine soldiers in 1945. 1st cavalry US army. Lost buddies. Effected him his whole life. Had nightmares. But loved the people there. Helped families. And our cousin Paul Henry Carr died in battle off Leyte on USS Samuel B. Roberts. I know his plaque is there. And I hope to find some of Dads buddies. I cry watching this. Its so beautiful. It will be my honor to visit soon.

Looking out onto the vast field of crosses and Stars of David, it was as if the ghosts of the rows and rows of soldiers, sailors, and marines were standing at attention, ready to serve their country again. It is for us, the living, to remember Lincoln's words at another cemetery. "that the government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from this earth." This will only happen if righteousness prevails and despots and wannabes fail. My cousin lost at sea, is listed on the memorial wall.

"a marine who went down in 1945 in the SOUTHEAST PACIFIC" Im sure that is an error because that would be closer to South America than East Asia.
@joshi68983 ай бұрын
If your point of reference is in USA but if the one taking is in the Philippines, South East Pacific is somewhere in Polynesian Islands. In fact Philippines itself is in south east Asia which is in the Pacific. Obviously This guy is in the Philippines.
@FoodieOmni3 ай бұрын
Southeast Asia is the right term today. South Pacific is the popular term 100 years ago if you want to use Pacific ocean as the base of reference. You are rigth about southeast pacific as closer to south america.
@stuka803 ай бұрын
@@FoodieOmni They didn't say the air battle was in Southeast Asia, they said its in the "SOUTHEAST PACIFIC".
@stuka803 ай бұрын
@898 The entire Pacific is the point of reference, what you're doing is looking for a reason to excuse an obvious error. Nobody who lives in California will ever say that Nevada is in the East Coast of the US just because its East of California. Please just stop with this stupidity.
