Arguably the greatest cinematic composer of our time, and his signature theme for an icon - a role model, a powerful symbol for good, fighting the never-ending battle, and protecting those who cannot protect themselves. This song straightens the spine, races the heart, and touches the soul. It has moved me profoundly today, as I type this through moist eyes. May it inspire us all to be super, in some fashion, during this strange and confusing time in our lives. Lois Lane: "...Who are you?" Superman: "A friend."

When I was a kid I had a 45 (vinyl) of this with the love theme on the B side. Always loved it and I think it got me interested in orchestral music in a way. Then became a semi-pro trombone (mostly bass later on) player and now I find this. Exceptional. I was searching for 'Pittsburgh Symphony Brass' on YT because I know you guys/gals in the section have a great sound and don't shy away from the volume when warranted (love the Christmas album) and was so glad to come across this. Really great stuff.

This is phenomenal! THANK YOU FOR POSTING this, especially now. I've been reading through all your comments looking at equipment & software you're using. I'm curious, would you mind commenting on any equipment or software differences that you had between this vs. the 2012 recording you have on your youtube channel? Obviously the software has changed with time, but I'm just curious on the overall differences and perhaps any new techniques or things you've learned since then. Both recordings, and your skills of course, are superb, but I can tell the 2020 recording is different....just trying to understand exactly why. It feels like I'm in the room listening to you guys. Thanks again!!
@JimSuperNova4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words Jeremy! Essentially the big difference is better gear and better software. The older Superman overdub is with Audacity and a simple USB mic. This version is with better microphones and Logic Pro. Hope that helps!

Love this! Would like to attempt something like this with my students. Suggestions on easily accessible software?
@JimSuperNova4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! As for doing this with students, it's tricky the more folks you have. Free audio software would be audacity and then for video, Final Cut Pro is free for 90 days. Also, Logic pro is what I use for audio and it's also free for 90 days. Good luck!

Hi Nick. Thanks for your kind words. I use pretty sophisticated gear for my stuff but the other guys used a USB mic and either Audacity or GarageBand for the audio and just cell phones for the video. The I used Logic Pro for the audio editing and Final Cut Pro for the video editing. Good luck!!
