I once had company coming over unexpectedly within 10 minutes and so I tossed a few dirty pots and pans that I had in the sink into the oven to hide them. Of course I forgot about them. It was two weeks later when I went to preheat my oven and noticed a bad smell. I was shocked when I opened the oven and discovered those forgotten pans! LOL! I felt like such a dummy!

Knowing I bought it and couldn't find it, until like you, it had gone bad! When my kids were small and driving me nuts one day, I couldn't find the hairbrush. Oh yes, Stouffers used to sell those, but I think they are not being produced now. Our favorite was their spinach souffle. One Thanksgiving we served them both.

You are so charming. I'm retired but I still farm 5 acres here in Wisconsin. A couple years back I grew cushaw squash. New to me.The neighbors rent cabins to glampers who come over frequently to buy veggies (mostly I give them away). The ladies were from Louisiana. I was proud of my cushaw and said, like I know southern cooking, I've heard folks make pies out of cushaw. The lady said, Honey, in the south, we make pies out of everything. Lol. Well, I got school. In a good way. Being retired, I am perfecting my cooking skills all winter using what I grow. My favorites are Hickory King corn for meal, hominy and grits and Fordhook lima beans, or are they butterbeans? You tell me. Thanks for your decency in teaching old men who are new to cooking, the ropes.

We make Wild Rice and Corn Casserole for Thanksgiving Dinner every year, but I’ve never heard of Corn Pie! Might have to try it! We LOVE corn! Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderfully blessed and filled with SONshine!!! 🙏🏻❤️

My mother made scalloped corn for Thanksgiving. it was a family favorite. My children liked it and my grandchildren do too. The recipe was from an old Betty Crocker cookbook. Your recipe looks similar except mine has less butter plus dry mustard, paprika, chopped green bell pepper and onion. It is topped with crushed crackers (I use Ritz) mixed with some melted butter. Then in the oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

I like to use the canned Green Giant super sweet and cream corn for those recipe. I do one can of super sweet and 2 creamed corn. Both Green Giant brand. Everything else is basically the same though.

When using frozen veggies as ingredients, don’t buy steamables. Those are more expensive because of the extra manufacturing for the steamable cooking method that is not being used.
