In case anyone's curious about the clip at 3:20, lava can't melt a volcano for two reasons: 1. During an eruption, lava cools as it makes contact with the air or the ground, and 2. The rock that makes up the volcano is under high pressure and thus has a higher melting point, on top of having low thermal conductivity which prevents the heat from the lava from spreading. Also, if you need to have the clip at 12:30 explained... No. Just no. Crawl out of that rock you've been living under and get some vitamin D in you.

The magma doesn't completely melt the volcano because on average stone has a melting point of 700°C and magma is typically in the range of 700-1200°C. For the magma to melt the stone it would have to keep constant contact and not lose any heat, which is not going to happen realistically. It's not uncommon for lava to melt the outside of the volcano, but it doesn't really matter when there is a new layer of lava rock over top of it.
