I have a great business idea. I have found these things called Life Preservers - they sell them here but it seems like Florida has never heard of them. I think I might import them. I mean a good one might cost $200 but it's cheaper than the funeral costs. Seriously are there no laws regarding life preservers in FL - at least for under 15 years old?

Go to Yamaha or Bayliner and get yourself a 19 footer… good place to start. That is what we did, price is around $48,700 for a Yamaha, Bayliner is similar if I remember correctly.

I can vouch for Regal boats! We had one for our lake house (Cedar Creek Lake in TX) from 07’-14’. I think it was an 02’-04’ 1800 LSR, judging from pictures on the internet (I was 7-14yrs old when we owned it, so I never knew the model name. Pictures look identical though). The specs I found online say: 18’ length ; 8’ beam ; 2300lbs ; fiberglass hull ; stern drive power boat ; 190hp gasoline engine. I used it to ski, wakeboard, kneeboard, and tube for several hours every day we were at the house (typically every weekend). It never let us down. Zero issues (except the radio didn’t work, but it didn’t work when we bought it. We didn’t care and never would’ve used it either way). We ended up donating it to some boat charity when we sold the lake house due to the insane drought in 2014. Looking online, it looks like you can get one for $8-12k. I’m not sure how it would do in the ocean, but it’s a great budget-friendly choice for a lake!

Sometimes the Tow company requests it down for a good reason, it keeps the Disabled boat more stable. A boat with the motor up will not slide properly.

The boats that are going out with fishing poles. Obviously are fishing off the coast. Going out south you have Miami Beach, the Keys. Heading north you have Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach.
