Irresponsible, some say criminal immigration policies have changed the America WE remember!! The consciousness of the country has slowly been changed to accommodate other filthy cultures all in the name of acceptance and pulled US away from our Christian values. It's called DIVIDE AND CONQUER!! SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT??!

still in Winnebago, IL (100 miles from Chicago). good music on the radio! graduated from 8th grade in June and had my confirmation that April. sneaking cigarettes with my friend Tammy and my cousin (we used to climb up into an apple tree and smoke!). Started my freshman year of H.S. that was not fun. I was bullied. but there were some nice kids and I will cherish the memories of the friends who were for real! :) still love the music of the late 70's. saw a lot of good movies too with my friend Diane, ALIEN, SUPERMAN, AMITYVILLE HORROR. I do remember 3 mile Island incident happening and the DC10 crash in Chicago. the winter between 78 going into 79 was brutal in the Midwest.

Another winner Johnny!!! I was in 4th grade. 1979 - Disco transitioning to New Wave. Baseball was still king. You rushed home to watch the afternoon playoff games. The Hostage crisis. Lines at the gas station. In New York, crime was out of control. Great movies. In retrospect, we grew up in a time that was more fun and happy than today. Keep up the good work.

1979 was the year for me. 14 years old and on the edge of the 80s, my decade. Punk was in full swing, Disco was dying a slow agonizing death (you're welcome), Mod/Skä and 3rd wave Rockabilly was ready to burst through the womb. The start of Alternative Music, 106.7 KROQ was about to launch a flood of undiscovered bands into fame and make bands that were already on the scene more famous. The Sex Pistols, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats The Ramones Elvis Costello, Devo, Prince,Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and The Pretenders. what a great year to be a teenager. thanks Johnny for bringing back the memories! not everything was good about 79, but like John Edwards said, "the funny thing about nostalgia is you tend to only remember the good things and you forget the horrible things," but i like what Devo said "Thats a good thing."

Oh my God! You showed the Disco Demolition! I watched that on TV in Chicago as a kid and it broke my heart! I almost mentioned in my comment on the 1978 video that I LOVED Disco as a kid and seeing people burn their Disco albums in Comiskey Park was traumatic. Years later, though, from the ashes of Disco, came House Music, born in the underground of Chicago. I got hooked on House in my teens and it began my life-long love of House and DJ-ing! I still DJ House music, to this day, except I live in LA, now. Man, you've gotta do more of these! Thank you!

@@shawnp6744 Obviously the young people never can compare. I was 12 in 79 (now 55). The year 79 and the years before there was not high technology compare to now. No cellphone, no ipad, no high quality TV, not even home PC. But people were really HAPPIER. Since CIA created Khomeini and changed regime of Iran, people lost their happiness in whole world including States year after year. Year by year and day by day everything collapses and . . . now we have 350000 children in States who go to bed without dinner every single night, United States is the first insecure country in the world now, crime rate goes higher and higher every day in States, poverty rate goes upper and upper year by year in States, quality of education comes down every year in States, higher police brutality . . . school mass shootings . . . war . . . . . . . These are somethings that you know and live with now and seem normal for young people, but we did not experienced those before 79.

Never thought the 70's would ever end, it was jarring when it turned 1980. Everything has been after life since then.

@@Johnnyboy792 I think there was a slow shift starting in the 80's that accelerated in the 1990's to making technology the center of our worlds.

I turned 17 that year. Daisy Duke. It was a toss up between her and the car.
