Today I’m sharing with you scenes from an old Maine Hunting Camp. Photo’s are some that were taken from the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s. My father, grandfather, and other relatives used to hunt deer, wild hares, bear, and they’d fish there as well. Any game that they got helped feed them, and their families. I didn’t know all of these men, and sadly they’re now gone. When I was growing up I spent some time at the camp throughout the years. It was a wonderful, quiet, and peaceful place, with no electricity or running water.
Thank you for visiting today, and God Bless.

Thank you Dave! I appreciate you sharing your memories. It was a different time wasn’t it? I’m happy to share these old pictures for those who have appreciation for the older times and remember. My father, grandfather, and cousins are in most of these photos. I did a part 1 and a part 2 of this. I remember dad get ready every hunting season, for his stay at camp. Thanks for stopping by!

Just found this video Maine is beautiful I have only been there once but could easily live there. I am from Michigan and it reminds me of Maine and yes we had a hunting camp way back,those days are long gone so if you are lucky enough to still have a camp try and keep the tradition going, you have good memories, thanks for the video

Thank you Don, I appreciate you stopping by and commenting. The camp building still stands out in the woods, but all the family is gone now. I’m not sure what the status of the place is anymore. But long ago, it was a wonderful place to go to. No power, or running water. Peaceful and quiet. The land in that area is being bought up, when it goes on the market. Sad to see. These were all slides (there’s a part 2) here as well. They were all slides that I carefully copied digitally in order to make the videos. Have a blessed Christmas!

Awesome, a real piece of Americana. If more men still did this kind of thing today, we would be a much better, stronger nation. I am heading out to moose camp tomorrow to hunt with my sons.

Thank you Steve! I have these in a collection of slides. I had to work with each slide, take a digital picture, and edit, in order to view them as a digital photo. It took awhile, but it was SO worth it. It’s nice to see pictures of my father, grandfather, and other family members from way back then. I have a part 2 as well. Better times in many ways. I look forward to seeing them again one day. Thank you for watching 🙂

Hi! Thank you for watching both! It was built as a hunting camp by the hard work of the men in these videos (family). They all paid dues, to cover the taxes and other expenses. It was owned by all of the hunting camp members. During the times when it wasn’t hunting season, members went up throughout the year to maintain the property, and just to get away (take a day trip) with their family members. Such great memories. Thank you for asking! I appreciate you for stopping by, and God Bless!

Hi! I just subbed to you. Because your settings are adjusted for children, it says no one can use the bell notification when you put out a new video (that’s the message I got). I had to set my own channel to say not appropriate for children, otherwise I’d run into the same problem (no one would get notification) I don’t know why KZbin’s settings are that way, but they are. Also I was unable to comment. Anyway, your channel looks interesting. Stay safe out there and God Bless!

I've been thinking I need to make a video of my grandparents mining claim in the 1950's. My two brothers and I spent our summers there and loved our tie there so much. Thanks! I’m sure that dip in the water was refreshing after a hard day’s work. My grandfather was a hard working man.

What a beautiful video! And what a rich, beautiful life that must have been. I grew up in a Scottish crofthouse not so very different (no indoor plumbing..the toilet seat made me laugh out loud...and no electric). My dad put meat on the table too, so the deer etc were familiar sights but the "look" is different and reflects our different cultures. I LOVE that kind of plaid that seems to be particular to your country, the red and black kind? I don't know what you call it, sorry. The cars then were gorgeous too, now all cars look the same and have no personality. And the stove! Also, that piece of music was just gorgeous.

Thank You Trish 🙂 Omgosh you know the funny thing about that toilet seat is that I also have a picture of an older woman holding it! I have NO idea what that was all about but it sure is funny and I’m sure there is a story about it 😄 I’m glad it made you laugh lol. We need more laughter in our life theses days 🤗 Back then the hunters usually wore the black and red plaid but I’m not sure if that’s allowed anymore here in this state. They now where the bright solid orange colors. I sure loved going there when I was growing up. We filled those water buckets with drinking water and kept it right by the door. That water was SO good, and we used to have tonic/soda/orange in glass bottles back in the 1960’s. We used to bring the bottles down to the brook and put the bottles into the sand a bit to keep them cold under the water. What a treat it was. Dad made egg salad sandwiches wrapped in waxed paper and we even got to have potato chips/crisps. Now people eat them all the time, but back then it was a special treat. It was very peaceful there, but I did NOT like the old outhouse (there was no door) 😬. Still that camp brings me some great memories ❤️

Did you get to go with your dad ?
@KatInTheNorth
@KatInTheNorth 8 ай бұрын
No, because being his daughter, it was the men in the family that did the hunting. Plus when these photos were taken, I wasn’t born yet. I do remember my dad preparing for his trip to the hunting camp every season though. However, later in years, we would go up and spend the day (as a family). So many great memories there! Thanks for watching.
