"Isayama elaborated that he was influenced by Yuki Kaji, the Japanese voice actor of anime. As Kaji’s empathetic performance established Eren as a “good guy”, the mangaka rethought his stance and tried to shift his ending to fit the portrayal of his protagonist in the anime. He struggled with the ending, going through writer’s block before finally deciding how to conclude his saga. Isayama stated that he is still unsure if he has overcome that struggle, and is still plagued by doubts about whether or not he has “landed it.” However, the convention-goers were quick to reassure him that they appreciate him and his hard work." --Hajime Isayama, appearance at the Anime NYC Convention on 19-Nov-2022, reported by Sportskeeda AOT is meta

The parallels are crazy. The Attack Titan has never bowed to anybody for centuries. Always seeking freedom. The memories of the future (well, Eren) influence the past. On the flip side, the inheritors of the Founding Titan are bound by the vow renouncing war. The memories of the past (the king) influence the future. This is the moment where the two clash.. accompanied by time-bending Eren & Zeke. And it is revealed that Eren has been playing 5D chess this whole time. He puts the final nail in the Founding Titan coffin by reminding Grisha what he fights for. What they all fought for. Eldia. His sister. His comrades. To avenge them. “Keep moving forward. Even if you die. Even after you die”. Very fitting for the Attack Titan. If you keep moving forward, you will witness the future, and the Attack Titan owns the future. Not only that but its revealed that Grisha, the main plot maker of AoT, the heartless father who started it all, actually gave it up for his family. Until young Eren says “if noone takes their place, theirs deaths will be for nothing”. Adult Eren stares him in the eye, making sure Grisha gives the key to him. There are a million details to write about.. its insane.

You can watch the intro after episode 22 (Thaw) btw. 18:27 Imagine being stuck there for a long time, like 2000 years real world time or something crazy... >_> Explanation: The attack titan holder cannot see the future, but he can send memories back to previous attack titan holders, even before they hold the attack titan - including his own past self (remember Eren waking up from a "dream" & crying in episode 1 of season 1?). This means they can basically influence the past. That's why Grisha asked why Eren did not show him everything, and what happened to Carla - her fate that he only learned about when he went back to little Eren in the refugee camp. That's also how Grisha was able to see Zeke, because Eren was sending back his memories from wandering through his memories with Zeke. When Grisha stared at Eren when he held the key, he basically saw memories of staring at himself in that moment. Eren basically manipulated his own fater, his own younger self, Eren Kruger, and possibly many more attack titan holders in the past to do what he wants them to do. Attack on Titan is Eren's villain origin story. And when Eren kissed Historia's hand, he saw that himself as well - which is why he looked so shook, and why he became so quiet and grew his hair out within the year after, when they went to the sea. He knew what he'd become, what he'd do. And oh what a sight it was... But basically none of the things that already happened were possible, if Zeke in the future didn't take Eren through those memories, because Eren needed this to send them back to Grisha and coerce him to do what he did. It's not time travel in of itself, but still a time paradox. The wild thing are the implications of it. Like, how far back goes Eren's influence? Was he responsible for Marley somehow being able to fight back against Eldia's world domination during the great titan war and forcing Eldians onto the Island? Is he the reason why attack titan holders were so rebellious?

@lorenzobortolani5286Күн бұрын
@@bonzi5516well he quite literally is forced to follow the future cause the past depends on it. Time travel in this series is predeterministic, meaning what will happen has to happen and cannot be changed, for example the crystal catacomb memory would create a paradox if Eren doesn’t manipulate his father, meaning he will have to force him to do it cause it already happened, and it cannot change otherwise Eren wouldn’t even exist as the possessor of the founder, just the attack titan. Hope that was clear enough
@bonzi5516Күн бұрын
@lorenzobortolani5286 yeah, nothing will change, but now eren isn t like forced to do what he saw and he didn t want this. There just isn t any possibility that eren would choose something else than he saw in the future. For exemple in that situation with Ramzi. He knew he was gonna save him and he could just leave and not follow the future, but there isn t any universe in which he would let that kid to be beaten by those people. I hope I explained it quite clearly

Ok so a while ago I read a KZbin comment that really helped me understand this one episode better, so here it is: Notice how Grisha can only see Zeke when Eren is standing behind Grisha, because Grisha can remember future Eren's memories, and so he knows at some point Eren will navigate in his memories and Eren remembers Zeke standing right in front of Grisha. It's not that Grisha can see them, it's more like he remembers they're eventually gonna be there. Also, Grisha asks Eren why he won't let him see all the memories, which implies that Eren has the capability to decide which memories to show and which not to. That's also a MAYOR reveal, because that means that Eren wanted Zeke to live that lil moment with his dad and he is not really completely a villian. But it also means that it's EREN, NOT ANYONE ELSE, who has been manipulating the whole lineage of attack titans, by showing the past hosts of the attack titan only those memories which are useful so that they will all follow the path that would lead to this point in time... Also, if Grisha has already seen what Eren has planned, it means it already happened and future Eren, once he accomplished his goal (which we still don't really know yet) was able to show Grisha what happens. Everything that occurs from here on out is already unmodifiable. Another and last little mindblow, we now know that Eren saw the memories of the royal family murder when he kissed Historia's hand, therefore he already knew HE was the one that, via memory mindfvck, convinced his dad to do all of it. But if he was able to see his dad's memories, then he probably also saw HIS OWN MEMORIES OF THE FUTURE, because his dad already knew. Remember his reaction when Sasha's death happened? And in future episodes, with Ramzi it's the same story. Ever since he saw the future, he's been trying to change all that will happen, without success. He is actually the only one who isn't free, Eren is the slave of freedom.

So, The attack titan user can see the future by the next attack users, but only what they let the previous attack titan user to see( grisha can see the future by the memories of eren, but he can t see everything, just what eren let him see. But eren can see every memory of grisha ) . So Grisha was able to see/hear eren and zeke by letting grisha see eren s perspective when they are in grisha s memories. So for exemple in the last scene, what didn t see anything in real life, but he could see in his mind through eren s eyes himself looking at zeke. Also in the manipulation moment Eren was popping the images with dina and grisha s sister in grisha s mind to make him unalive the reiss family ( all of them, but the father because he was important later in the story) He also showed him glimpses of what s gonna happen next in the anime, that s why he knew terrible things gonna happen. After he realized grisha tells zeke to stop eren and you may be asking,, why did he give eren the titan then? ". Because as u can see he says,, why won t u show me everything? The day the wall falls. If Carla is safe" so eren didn t show him that and when he goes home and find out about Carla he goes mad and gives Eren the titan by saying,, avenge your mother"

From my perspective on this episode: In the last episode Zeke mentions something along the lines of "This is where the founder expends untold years every time we ask for the power of the titans", in other words, whenever someone transforms into a titan in the real world, the founder Ymir uses the sand in the paths to build those titan bodies, because in the paths time is both instant and infinite. For her it's a slow process like when she was rebuilding Zeke's body after he exploded due to the thunder spear, but in the real world it happens within seconds. This episode where they walk through memories, I believe the entire set they walk through is basically also built through those sands in the paths, which is why I think physical touch is possible. But it's essentially a replay of events that happened in the past, so naturally nobody can interact with entities from the future... except Grisha. Every time Eren sends back memories to Grisha in the past in the memories they are walking through, interaction is made possible between Eren from the future, and Grisha from the past, within those memories. So everything Eren sees in the future in the memories he's sending back through the Attack Titans' power, including Zeke, becomes visible to Grisha as well.

The incredible thing about this episode is that it doesn't invalidate anything that has happened. In fact the right way of thinking about it is that everything that happened to Grisha has already occurred, and you're only finding out all the details now. And it's also crazy to think of the perspective and how insane of an experience it would be to both be yourself but also experience the memory of someone interacting with you. Grisha while not able to see Eren next to him, can simultaneously see through Eren's eyes and feel the rage and hatred he had towards Freida in that moment. And when Grisha falls to the ground, he would be himself while also be looking down on himself from Eren's memory and hearing future Eren's voice seemingly come from his own mouth. Another thing which I'm not sure if you guys caught is that it seems Eren holds the power to share his memories to the past, not so much that past inheritors can "see the future". This episode completely re-contextualizes the series with Eren being the reason for everything.

Day 86 of spreading the faith in our Lord, The Fool 🙏. Hope you two check out the trailers for Lord of The Mysteries, a chinese anime(donghua) coming out next year. The rest of the comment is a small glimpse of why you should watch it as it is one of the greatest webnovels ever written and it even joined the national library of China earlier this year with how big it is over there. With the way you like to analyze everything you will love it as the biggest charm of it is unraveling mysteries and how things work. Absolute masterpiece of a story even though the first arc is off-putting for a lot of people since it's setting up the base for the entire world with alot of informations given to us. It's going as far as setting up a real currency and political system for every countries. We got confirmation that every episode will be more than 30 minutes long with at least 12 episodes for 5 seasons confirmed which would translate to half of the book (volume 4/5 out of 8) It has one of the greatest power systems in anything I've seen/heard of and changes genres throughout time. We got more than 10 pathways each starting from sequence 9 then sequence 8 etc with each of them having different abilities and needing a ritual to go to the next level. The fun fact here is that the higher you go, the more likely you are to become insane, so people that are your teammates today will become horrible monsters tomorrow. It starts off as a mystery/horror/police thing as we follow a team of policemen tasked to destroy evil beings in their city and it expands much more into an epic/horror/historical tale that knows no bounds. The secondary characters are very memorable since we get their point of views for a while from time to time. The main character uses his cheat to act as a god and make his own cult which becomes the main cast. The antagonists are TERRIFYING and bully the others throughout the whole show (they're here since episode 1 lol) Definitely recommend reading at least the first volume before the anime comes out.
