xlujanx I absolutely agree. One song that did that for me was The Great I Am by Agraceful. Such a powerful song and when it ended...wow. Too bad they didnt release anything else before they broke up and when Christopher went to do lead vocals for Like Moths To Flame. Another great band and great track that did that for me again, was a track by Sent By Ravens called New Fire and once again, its sad they disbanded but maybe one day they will come back and release a new album. One last one would have to be I Never Wanted by As I Lay Dying - poignant and introspective lyrics and despite Tim's current situation, still to this day I listen to them

I'm in tears right now... All always thought it was about a woman and thought it was one of my favorite songs until I decided to read the lyrics while singing along this morning. He's talking about God, and the chorus is not him saying it to a girl but god saying that to him. Spoke volumes in me just now especially "I shiver as you whisper in my ear, "Child have no fear"."

David Skinner it's how God forgives us no matter what we've done.its the story of the prodigal son who went out and spent all his dad's money which was his inheritance....then ended up broke and ashamed came back home and his dad welcomes him tho he thought he'd hate him.God does the same with us.we think God will shame us and deny us when we've done filthy terrible things but he doesn't when we repent. so I think it's a cross between a practical story of today... and the story of God's love like the bible story The prodigal son. Jesus bless u. sad yet redeeming video.almost cried when the dad didn't have his dollar or two for a small pint of milk.

What, and you think that bands like August Burns Red who don't always sing about their faith aren't just as effective? The important part is the interaction with the fans not necessarily the music. The faith will come out in the music, but the people must also talk about it as well.
@SkyarBlue8 жыл бұрын
what is great about this song is that there are many meanings that this can be interpreted as. If you are religious this song could be talking about God's unconditional and eternal love. But if you aren't, like I am, you can still connect to it in the sense that there are always people there who will always stand by us and be there to guide us no matter what. Either way it can mean something special to everyone. Regardless of religion or beliefs, there is no need to belittle what it means to anyone.

And for all of you saying we are hypocrites and intolerant I'm sorry but everyone is a hypocrite and has done wrong in their lives. And we are intolerant about the sins not the people I mean Jesus hung out with tax collectors and other sinners to to try and save them as should we. This hits me right at the heart. With the video and all. It reminds me of my mom and I. I was such a brat to her and she'd tolerate me and my mistakes and still gave me a lot of things. (Money to concerts, money to hang with friends, money to buy my clothes, junk food basically everything even though she struggled to pay bills and needs) I hung out with the wrong group of people and I didn't know what I turned into. I'd fight with her a lot. Until one day it went really bad and she cried. I made her cry so many times until I decided to fix myself. She loves me and accepts who I am and we can talk to each other about anything now. No matter how much you want to deny it, someone is always there for you even at your worse times. This just happened to be my one and only mom.

I always see people getting upset because one or two out of hundreds of other metal core bands are Christian. But that's exactly it, Memphis is only one out of HUNDREDS of bands in this genre and they're a band that's brave enough to talk about Christ. You can find a different band who either doesn't talk about it at all or even talk against it! :) No one told you to listen to a CHRISTIAN metal band, so if you don't like it, go find another one with a different message and let us enjoy the awesome sounds of metal! After all, most bands in this genre do sound the same :)

True, i think there should be no band discrimination just because of the way they write their lyrics. Lifeispain411v2 I live by the new testament. I'm not saying I agree with tattoos, I personally just don't like them but however that's not my place to decide for someone else. Jesus died so we wouldn't have to live by law, because if we did have to live by law, none of us would make it....SALVATION! You won't get in by your own effort. All we have to do is just ask forgiveness, and accept him and we are free! THAT SIMPLE! (What you do past that point is a different story.) Do you think because we were born into sin we won't make it? You should know the answer to that It's the same as tattoos. A tattoo doesn't really mean anything. Some of their lyrics are "The next time you feel the right to preach about commandments you know you do not keep REALIZE THAT IS WAS GRACE THAT SAVED YOU and do us all a favor, keep your self righteous mouth shut" But yeah as to spreading the message of a law that was fulfilled and made void by Jesus himself, that's defeating the purpose. That's why we as born again Christians should live a life of forgiveness. Because he forgave us first, we can forgive others. :)

This video/song is amazing! It points out that even when we take advantage of God's grace, and run from him He still loves us and forgives us. I love the end when the father actually goes out to find his son. It's a perfect picture how God is the one that is always pursuing us even when were not. Memphis May Fire, you nailed this one.

I will never forget this song. I first heard it right before a suicide attempt. I was intent on doing it and was listening to Octane on Sirius XM. It stopped me in my tracks. I finally looked up what the song waa about and I was surprised. Later on I did go forth with that suicide attempt but somehow survived. I knew then that there had to be a God. There was no way I survived what I did without any harm. No one even knew what I did until like a year later. (Not saying what it was because Im not giving ideas as this was a unique one). So here I am 7 years later writing this to tell anyone who is going through depression and suicidal thoughts that there is a way out and there is hope. I found Jesus about 3 years after I had first heard this song. I remember the altar call at Warped Tour in Houston and though that wasn't the moment, it really stuck with me. This song is a part of my testimony and now a part of my first book. So for all those out there hearing this for the first time of maybe listening again searching for hope, Im here to tell you that yes, this is God reaching out to YOU. There is hope in this crazy thing called life. Don't give up. Life really does get better. I went from homelessness, living with all different people (whoever would take me in), to buying my first home this April. I have a 5 year old now who is one of my many reasons to keep holding on. I have a job that I never thought I could have gotten without a college degree. Im a leader in the church when just 4 years ago I was an atheist. Im telling you this not to boast in any way but to show you that there is hope and it comes with having a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Be encouraged my friend, you are not alone. God is with you and always has been. Hes just waiting for you to run back into His arms.

My Father was a terribly abusive alcoholic. My Mom was the best person who ever lived. She died in the pandemic, I haven't seen my Father since a while before then when I was homeless and he almost got me killed on the streets. He is trying to reconnect, but I cannot find a reason to embrace it. I miss my Mom. What he did to us.. to her.. 😡 I get the story, it hits me where it hurts, very well done.

Who said metal bands were just screams and satanic lyrics ? This song is awesome !! As well as the lyrics :')
@0themanticore08 жыл бұрын
A lot of great metal bands (even classics like Iron Maiden) get shit on because people hear one song that sounds heavy and has screaming and they start the bs "metal is all screaming and Satan worshipping!".
@eamonnparsons31558 жыл бұрын
It's literally the opposite, listen to the lyrics clearly, this is not a song about a father trying to win his son back. It's a religious song. "I shiver as you whisper in my ear" is referring to god/jesus "I'm so afraid to admit that you're real, because I'm afraid of what I might feel" of course he knows his father exists, but the 'father' is a metaphor for god. I'm not religious by the way, just what I take from these lyrics after looking at them more closely.

God I can't tell you how many times I cry every time I heard this song and see this video. It's one of those songs that I always try to avoid and not because it sounds awful, but I always burst into tears. But yet comeback from time to time because it such a powerful and good sounding song. (This is coming from someone who barely even cries in his lifetime.)

I've fallen so far... I used to be a devout Christian but with my life feeling like it's crumbling around me and the death of my little brother, I can't seem to find my way anymore. It's been a steady decline since I've returned from afghanistan. my PTSD makes it hard to get a job and im just starting to lose hope. in fact the only thing that still gives me hope is this song. it reminds me that no matter how far I fall, when I finally do make it back to the graces of God he will welcome me with open arms. It's the only hope I have anymore.

Hi Devin, Don't wait, just come back to Him now :) You don't have to have it all together to be with God. I have had questions, trials, doubts, but I know He sticks with me and I with Him. Being Christian doesn't mean you never go wrong. It means that you believe in Jesus who redeems and sanctifies you, and makes a new person out of you. God bless!
@roboking10208 жыл бұрын
Hey Devin, I'm sorry to hear you've went through all that. But there still is hope in God. I haven't really figured everything out myself so I'll just recommend you listen to this minister who might help you with your problems. His name is Andrew Wommack and he has a teaching called "How to Find God's Will" which you can find on youtube. It's helped me get my life back on track even though I've fell off a few times. I hope it helps you too. Peace and God Bless.

Whenever a new album comes out, there will always be people saying that their previous album was the best. I assure you that when their next album comes out, people will say this was one of their best albums. It has been, and always will be the same opinions, bands need to switch it up to keep things fresh, if they don't, they are seen as being lazy, make too much of a change, they are called sellouts. You can't please everyone i suppose
