I've seen Memphis Slim in 1970 in Bobigny as a teenager and then in the 90's, I met Mickey Baker who happenned to live in Toulouse where I was at the time doing a radio show about Blues at a community radio called Radio Mon Pais, that still exists today. At the time, in 1992 Mickey Baker drove Memphis Slim's car, who died some years before: the car had $ painted all around it😄 It was a very nice incounter.

Memphis Slim, though noticeably diminished by the time of this performance, a Great Genius of the blues and the boogie-woogie.

So cool, so pro, what a joy it would have been to see them in a Paris club. The French seemed totally at ease with those of colour unlike much of the US then and perhaps even now.

Was this ever released as a record?

Not that I know of! They did release an album together, ‘Bluesingly Yours’ in 1968. They both lived in France and worked in the same circles. There is a French label releasing lots of INA French TV performances, so maybe it’ll turn up there! One track from their album is played on this 1968 session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3Osm2dnmtmip7s
