Thank you for all the time and in-depth videos you two do. I do like it when Nicole is in the video, she has a good sense of humour and I like that and she puts you in your place Joe. I go on all the trips with you, I can't travel and these are amazing. I live in Canada, and seeing the US in an interesting and everyday life is nice. Something we don't see in news media and movies.

I've lived in Memphis for it will be 40 years December of this year. Even though your video was two years ago thanks for coming here and showing some parts of the city. It was some nice footage. Memphis had a lot of fun things to do for families like a amusement park and water park and the yearly fair not to mention several go kart and putt putt golf places. And nice malls to shop at. I think only one mall still exists here with the major department stores. We used to like riding through downtown. Haven't done that in years.

I lived in the Memphis area for 56 years. Memphis went from a fast-growing family friendly city in the 50s, to a corrupt, decaying and crime-ridden city today.

Born and raised in Memphis loved living there, great memories until 1968. Then the city went down hill. There are still beautiful drives, like south parkway east. I always liked that road, beautiful homes and flowers. I left memphis in 1995 and was born in 1947 there. I grew up in Whitehaven and Germantown.
@toomanybears_
@toomanybears_ 2 жыл бұрын
I grew up in Whitehaven too. The events of '68 destroyed the downtown business district which never recovered but the stake through the heart was the forced bussing of school children for the purpose of "desegregation" (although the schools were not formally segregated) and the resultant "white flight" first from the school system then from the city itself.

S park is one of worst areas. I was with an investor who wanted to spend 28M+ and we looked at R/e all in Memphis. The warehouses were absolutely atrocious. We decided to invest in Covington, Georgia due to access of Atlanta and Charlotte centers already here. Memphis has an excellent logistic spot, but it’s like barely able to keep street lights on.

I went to Memphis last year and it’s one of my favorite cities to visit. I visited the MLK, Jr hotel, Beale Street, Peabody hotel, 901 comics, bass pro shop pyramid, Mud Island, central bbq and Gus world fried chicken! Memphis is a fun city !

I remember when I was a kid the sanitation workers' union and by extension all city employees got the day of King's assassination as a paid holiday. When later it was made a national holiday they wanted that one too. Well, they were told they couldn't have both so pick one. Some redneck councilman, can't remember his name, actually proposed that the black city workers get his birthday off and the white city workers get the day of his assassination off and call it James Earl Ray Day. It was so cringe that even the other white councilmen were like, woah, and tried to distance themselves from him. He got defeated in the next election. Anyone remember his name??
