Thanks for the video!, been trying to find a descent Deere but people still try to get like new prices if its low hours and real clean....what are your price limits on better than normal condition? like a 42in 100 or less hours.
@toddpratt722211 ай бұрын
I picked up a 2022 JD with 42 hours on it for $1300 that sells for $2700 at our local JD dealer. Figuring in I'm not paying tax either, I think that was a good deal to me.

Cleaner than normal and 100 hours or less I'd guess around $800 - $1000. Which sounds crazy but the prices of every have shot up so much. I always go for ones that are around $400 but have some sort of issue the owner doesn't want to fix.

@@Mechanical_Mind Thanks, in my area they get snatched up quick...I'm a tech for a living so repairs are easy, just finding one thats not been totally abused is hard lol.

Oh I know 🤣. It's hard to find a good deal when you're looking for one. I took me two weeks to find that one in this video. I look pretty much every day. When I spot one I move quick on it.

Thanks for this great advice. One thing about the oil filter is that I always use the OEM filters, so just judging by the brand, it is not very accurate. A good way to tell instead is the color of the label. The label on the filter used to be yellow, and they are now white. If the filter is the older yellow sticker version, then they probably never changed it.

Not related to THIS video, but thanks so much for posting those older videos about the Tuff Torq trans in the JD Z930M (etc) mowers. I have a Z960M. The dreaded leak around that collar that's sort of pressed onto the axle shaft that has the little rubber bushing under it finally got me. Mine started leaking. I first thought it was the seal, but it was the piece you showed in one of your other videos I mentioned. Anyway, seeing you take it apart and seeing what's inside gave me the confidence to do this myself. $300 in parts later, I got it done (I also bought the drive belt idler since it felt like it was getting a little rough). Honestly, it's not as bad as it looks and getting the trans in and out isn't that bad either (I had the whole mower up on 4 jack stands). I just hope the other one doesn't start leaking or at least not for another year. I really don't want to do that again anytime soon :-) Anyway...thanks! Your videos were a big help and very clear!

Yeah, those transmissions are not too bad to work on but definitely not fun to do. Glad the videos helped. Thanks for watching!

How often do you change the oil and oil filter ???? Just a bad spark plug or bad carb ??? Was using it last year or a couple of months ago ??? Very few are honest and I take a battery with me to test with !!!!😮 Lot of dirt and oil around the drain valve ??? Fresh new oil ???😢 On any of them in good shape expect to spend up to 200 bucks plus the price of mower 😮

Thanks for posting these videos! I'm looking at a used JD Z655 with about 250 hours that tracks to the left when driven. I noticed that the levers are not perfectly aligned as well. Could this be a sign of a more serious issue (e.g., transmission)? In other words, should I consider it or just keep looking? Thanks again for your help.
@Mechanical_Mind11 ай бұрын
The levers can be adjusted to align up evenly. If while driving forward if you notice one transmission is slower or weaker than the other, or if you notice a loud whining noise I'd avoid it. Often times the transmissions will not show any signs of weakness until they get hot. It may take about 30 mins of cutting before a transmission starts whining or getting weak.

What do think about a 2012 Simplicity Coronet riding lawn mower for single track mountain bike trail mowing. It nothing crazy rough but not smooth grass conditions. Looking at a used one with 30 inch mower and 14.5hp motor that looks in great shape. some spots are tight.

Thanks for a good informative video. I am currently looking at buying a John Deere D125 with 600hour on it. It is a trade in mower and the dealer says it still runs well. Is there something specific that I should look out for that die D125 may be know for giving trouble with? Thanks

Hi, I've been watching your videos and wonder if you have videos of 36 to 46 size ( I have 3/4 acre? It doesn't have to be a zero turn, just great qualiy for around $3000. Thanks so much.

Why after I start my lawn mower tractor it Will not take the brakes ?
@andybecker269311 ай бұрын
Your advice is spot on but I wouldn’t recommend any modern single cylinder tractor or zero turn made in the last 15 years. Definitely stay away from the black plastic transmissions. Those Briggs Intek singles are lucky to last 200 hours even if you maintain them. You will be a lot happier with a V -twin engine and recoup more money.
@Mechanical_Mind11 ай бұрын
I fully agree. I will not keep this 1 cylinder B&S for long. But my situation is different. If it breaks it makes for a good video opportunity. I have recommended the 2 cylinder Vtwin several times in past videos. It's my favorite engine on residential lawn tractors

How about a video on why to buy from a flipper. Risk reduction verses money saved. The flipper takes the risk to make it turn key.
@Mechanical_Mind11 ай бұрын
That's a good idea! But it's kinda hard to find decent flippers. Many are just out to put a bandaid on a bullet wound to make $. Half the reason I flip mowers now is for the video content, which does bring in some revenue. So I'm willing to go a little farther into repairs than most would be. But that is a good video idea.

@@Mechanical_Mind There are ones that take pride in their work. Their name is on it and they want repeat customers. But I understand what you are saying. What to look for in an honest flipper video?
