For perhaps the first time in a very long time, we have arrived at the point where men and women don't need each other anymore. For society to function, women need lots of men around, but a given woman doesn't need her own man. For civilization to continue, men need lots of women around, but a given man doesn't need his own woman. In this episode, I discuss some of the consequences of replacing necessity with desire.

What you're advocating is permanent inceldom for millions/billions of men. Putting the emotional/companionship desire to one side, if men don't need women there's going to be a 90 - 95 percent drop in men wanting sexual relationships with women. Women don't want men so they're going to have casual sex with chad lite and chad. Sub 7 men have no chance. Once the sex is over the women don't want chad lite or chad. Maybe the women might want them for child support in the event they have a child but that's all. We will end up with billions of men having to pay for sex (or getting super advanced AI sex dolls). Sounds nightmarish to me! But maybe if you buy shares in the AI sex dolls companies you might make a healthy profit. 🤭

One of the conclusions we can draw from this is that feminism would go extinct if we ran out of electricity for more than 24 hours. The closer we are to raw survival, the faster men and women reassume their assigned gender roles. As a Brazilian who spent some years in rural Brazil and then moved to a big city in the US, I can see how such a large social gap between both places affects intersexual dynamics. No wonder that the Passport Bros movement is becoming a thing. However, many of those guys are delusional. Why? They tend to pedestalize foreign women, portraying them as an "ideal of femininity," but, in the end, they're all women. They're all hypergamists. Women in those unfortunate places tend to be more feminine because there's a need implied to that behavior. Give these foreign women a green card and an address in Chicago, NY, or the Bay Area, and, assuming they can function as average citizens, voilá: they'll act like your regular American woman sooner or later.

Although you're right that in those liberal cities, they have a worse chance, not all of those foreign women become Westernized. The divorce statistics are pretty good for foreign women as well. But yeah if you're the bottom of you barrel in the USA and you bring back a 9, she will be able to see pretty quickly that there are better looking and richer men that will give her attention. But I know of several long lasting marriages with foreign women. But those women were good women before they left their countries.

Doc, I’ve also noticed a decline in men’s overall motivation to aspire for bigger things in life or gain resources. In my opinion, this may be due to the fact that the average man is becoming mostly obsolete, so most are rationalizing that they don’t have to go far and beyond anymore to be able to provide for a family. I think we largely underestimate how motivational women can be in men’s drive for success. This makes a lot of sense from an evolutionary perspective, the more needed men feel in their respective societies, the more they’re willing to dispose themselves for the greater good. Our current society has largely removed those incentives for men, it’s as if they’re completely dropping out of society and it’s sad to witness. I don’t see any solution for this problem en masse. Technology and our modern day societies have largely replaced men, and now they’re even more expandable.

This will continue to an even bigger extent. I have a feeling that everything masculine is being labeled as toxic, obsolete, or simply redefined as unisex. Competitiveness leads to the rat race or generally anxiety-driven behavior, stoicism is bad because it interferes with emotional regulation, rationality - well, women can also be rational. Strength? Technology will solve any strength issue. I can go on and on with examples. It looks like men are a danger not only to women but also to other men. All this brings me to a sad realization that we need to find a way to justify masculinity. If not, it will be soon rational to exclude it completely.

We have arrived at an age where one can say "no relationship is better than an even potentially bad relationship." As mentioned in this video, people can survive and even thrive without a sexual/romantic relationship. And since one has to settle and cater to the needs and desires of their partner, If another person doesn't show signs that a relationship with them is going to help us achieve a goal (like having children) or signs that being with them is somehow going to improve both involved parties lives, at least by a small bit, then the optimal thing to do is to not even bother trying to form a relationship. Why attempt something that is probably going to be more trouble than it's worth, when the need doesn't exist? And in the case of marriage and procreation, the trouble can become HUGE and the legal and psychological (maybe even physical) implications might scar the involved people for the rest of their lives. Why even attempt something like this when there is no urgency or big profit to be gained in exchange for the trouble?

I mean the simple fact is women don't love men at all. Look at society. Now with that in mind, how many men do you think will want to provide for a class of individuals that couldn't care less about them? The answer is women would likely lose their rights and be relegated to sex or birthing employees. It's not like they would ever show a poor man compassion when he's down and out, so why should we show compassion for them? There's nothing equitable about loving a woman. The man loses in that arrangement, every time.

But men will not take these women. Again, how would tough times benefit men if they were to be in relationships? It wouldn’t. Men will still have porn, unless the internet gets completely destroyed. Your first sentence.... DING DING DING, that is correct, and I'm glad someone finally said it. Women used to be the ones that'd take care of our laundry, make our bed, take care of our children, keep our bellies fully, and keep our balls dry. Well, these days every single man I meet can cook - even BETTER than most women I know - they make their own beds and clean their own apartments. Men do their own laundry, and keep their libido in check by shifting that frustration and energy into hobbies, or just rubbing one out and continuing on. Ffs it's a STATISTICAL fact that a child raised by a single father turns out SIGNIFICANTLY better than growing up with a single mother, so it turns out men can also raise kids by themselves, and these kids won't turn out fucked up. There is zero need for women. Can't say the same for the opposite. I stopped dating over 6 years ago, and I couldn't be happier. I'm not even lonely, I've got my best buds to cure the loneliness. I channeled my sexual energy into the gym, and now I'm in the BEST shape that I've ever been in. Correction: men and women don’t need each other anymore to fulfill their *short term* needs. This is hugely problematic, as men and women are biologically and psychologically wired to need each other in the *long term*. In the past, those needs tended to align, so satisfying the short term needs would lead to both short term and long term satisfaction. With those needs broadly misaligned today, we might be satisfied in the short term, but we are dissatisfied in the long term. Thus many people slowly slip into despair, or else run from short term high to short term high to get compensate. The good news is that this spiral is avoided in communities that emphasize male-female partnership for both short term and long term fulfillment (usually traditional religio-cultural communities), as well as by individuals who intentionally prioritize their long term goals.

When I saw women graduating from college, getting good jobs, and then traveling and spending their discretionary incomes, that is when I realized that when you remove the economic gain of marrying a man then women no longer had desires or needs to get married. They can take care of themselves economically when this was probably 90% of the reason they wanted to get married in the first place. But now they are fun and support themselves.

The endgame is that men and women do actually need each other; it's just that we're currently living off the past efforts of those who understood the importance of unity. Because we have forsaken that: our nation is undergoing a blanket degradation in young people, who typically do not have the basic life skills necessary to survive - yet demand that their survival be the obligation of others. Callow and misguided; many through a lack of purpose have failed to distinguish themselves from external objects, which has culminated in gender dysphoria, partisan upheaval, and staggeringly gross levels of self absorption among the populace. All of these issues were traditionally addressed by the nuclear family - itself an approximation of proper upbringing, but was nonetheless far more effective in recognizing that all social constructs are organically unified both biologically, and existentially for a reason. As people gradually realize that our infrastructure doesn't build itself, and that food doesn't magically appear in super markets; or that the *green paper* doesn't work anymore - we'll be as beasts who's master forgot to feed us, which going full circle, will necessitate working together. It's a shame that consequence must be our liberator in this regard.

I've been saying this for a while, that need and want are two very different things. As society changes and morphs with the evolving culture, so do intersexual dynamics. Love this video and your explanation. You're the only psychologist I've found who talks about these things and relates it all back to mental health and how to cope or even thrive in these conditions. You're completely right. The West has a massive wealth redistribution program via TAXES and LAWS (Alimony) going on. Shut that down and women will/would need men eg avoid being baby-mamas and all the stats around that. The solution to this question is something Western govs won't acknowledge: 1. Men create the physical environment and such systems 2. Women create the psychological environment (most essentially that of developing human children) What the doctor has not considered is this generation are all raised without the above basic structure of human society being clear and the results will almost certainly increase dysfunctionality. He's right about potential vs actual however and the above structure is all about that social trade between men and women as adults and transitioning to family creation. Of course traditional systems eg religions already solved this problem.

Cultures that dont reproduce dont survive. Here in the US as least, Mormons, Amish, and traditional Catholics still seem to have a bright future in terms of sticking around. Usually the response I get is something along the lines of technology will save us. I wouldnt bet on it, technology only seems to make interpersonal problems worse. But I do truly hope its resolved culturally rather than by force of nature.

The headline and content of the video got it right. Relationships are based on need, and there is no need for a relationship other than this instinctual reproductive desire that gnaws at those who desire a relationship but don't have one. People coming together these days literally have little to nothing to offer to each other. And we see highly dysfunctional relationships as a result. Even if they do have something to offer, they have no idea how to go about it in a productive way. However, I think the old cliche` of: "May you live in uninteresting times." is very spot on. This was laid out pretty simply at the beginning of the video: society, on a macro level, needs both genders for various reasons. Behind closed doors, at a personal level, neither men nor women need each other. So your point about plumbers and mechanics and etc service providers is moot, and for people who lay claim to logic purely based on their gender, it is puzzling how many men in these comments are fixated on that point. Those are professions both men and women pay for. Your average man is a white collar fellow who cannot fix a car / do plumbing / build a house / lay a road etc either, and no man is fixing or building anything for anyone, male or female, for free.

Women run the risk of getting pregnant, which is a life-altering event, to be sure (while men can just walk away). In the past, this was a lot more dangerous because we did not have efficient contraceptives or abortion techniques nor modern medicine to ensure a safe and smooth pregancy/delivery. So I'd say men had it a lot easier back then, and it made sense for a woman to demand plenty of guarantees. Nowadays, however, a sexual intercourse carries very little risks to women who protect themselves. They can enjoy sex the same way men do (relatively carelessly so long as they protect themselves). But, wired as they are, they continue to demand tons of guarantees to men even as they no longer necessarily carry his offspring or (with feminism) no longer feel compelled to contribute anything to the household. Under those circumstances, it doesn't make sense to men that women continue being so demanding.

What I find remarkable is that women nowadays have the increasingly attractive option of bringing up their children alone with the support of society; and hence selecting sperm donors out of their league: genetically, intellectually, socially etc. It also means that the not so lucky, both men and women, can still cope with living alone via the rest of society to support them, rather than having children with one another out of desperation; and their children then having to deal with the miserable consequences for the rest of their lives. In effect, it's a socially acceptable, moderated form of eugenics distributed through out the whole of society.

Technology, credit cards, restaurants/fast food, pornography, social programs have all made relationships more obsolete. However even the ones you see today are usually resource motivated on the womans part. Our grandparents generation weren't more moral or loving, it was simply necessity as you mentioned. Human nature doesn't change, only the times do. However once men no longer have the incentive to provide for a family, society will erode. Men as a whole will not take the risky high paying jobs as much, nor attend colleges or trade schools. There's no point really if you don't have to provide for a family, as men in general are totally fine with sparse furnishings, basic clothes, small dwellings and an older reliable vehicle. The effects of this societal shift will really be seen in 25 to 50 years, perhaps less. When infrastructures began to collapse, fewer homes are built, less airline pilots, oil workers, construction, plumbers, doctors, etc.

@@TGP109 Globalism is already being fought on all fronts, borders will be closed within the decade. Fewer people is a good thing though, we don't need 8 billion NPCs swarming around everywhere.

As a man, I can say I don't have much in commom with women. In many moments, I strongly dislike their way of thinking or behaving. Think of a friendship base here. If modern relationships are not based on need, what are they based on? Most likely the best relationships are friendships with sex. You have a lot in commom, share and feel at ease with the other. It's more playfull I should say. If other men, like me, don't have a lot in commom with women in that base, then relationships won't be high in numbers and the ones that are created, won't last.
