I'm the former owner of a junk removal company in North Carolina. Here's a simple tip: conceal things like firearms, money, safes, luxury items, and jewelry before allowing *any* service guys into your home, period. Specifically, when dealing with junk removal guys, and if physically able, slide the junk outdoors or into one pile in the garage or into just one room so that you don't have these guys roaming all over your home. Also, if you live alone, pretend like you have a spouse and/or roommates, etc. Whether it be the electrician, plumber, junk removal company, cleaning service, etc., play it smart, ya never know who you're dealing with. I've been in thousands of homes and it would often surprise me how some folks would just leave high dollar stuff laying around for us to see, unfortunately you can't be very trusting anymore. Also, in these kinds of trades, its not uncommon to be dealing with former felons, people on probation, etc. --now of course some ex-cons are "reformed" law-abiding citizens, but...ya just never know.

Or you can easily go buy a drug test pass kit online. Pointless. I worked for a company that did drug tests. I live in an apartment. I never allow anyone in my home ... Including maintenance without me being there. I make sure that "nothing of value" in sight. Some may just bring it up as small talk. "Yeah this one guy had ...." is all it takes to become a target. And when I heard "Wrong house" I was hoping it meant they broke into the home of an armed citizen. Here in Florida. Everyone from the governor down to our Sherriff's that Floridians are armed and have the right to protect their property.
