@@davidtm98 It was a ridiculous claim really - nobody knew that the 'Kookaburra' song was copyright, the woman who wrote it was long dead and the case was brought 28 years after 'Down Under' was released. Basically some shit of a lawyer got in touch with the company who owned the publishing rights and suggested they sue because they (and him of course) might make a lot of money. They tried to get 60% of the royalties on the song, but were awrded only 5% by the court - but that was still a lot as the song sold millions. I don't think it's true that they are not allowed to play the flute riff live - can't find any mention of that anywhere; whether they do or not, I've no idea.

The bastards didn't even get the point of the song. Why didn't vegemite sue them as well? There is a whole bunch of Aussie iconic motifs in the song and that riff was one of them and I'LL NEVER FORGIVE the pricks that lead to Greg Ham's death.

The US festival in California back in 1983 was a 3 day "who's who" of some of the greatest acts ever...I was lucky enough to see all three days and will never forget it.
