One of the best saxophonists and flutists ever. Rest in Peace Greg Ham
@artvandelay80906 ай бұрын
As compared to whom? First-year flutists and saxophonists can play the easy sax parts in Men At Work's simple pop music. Ever hear of Michael Brecker, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Charlie Parker, George Howard, Tom Scott, or David Sanborn? You oughta listen to all of those guys and many more before you shoot your mouth off with a hilarious comment like that. Greg Ham is not even on the radar as saxophonists go.

If you weren’t alive in ‘82-‘83 it’s extremely hard to emphasize just how HUGE Men At Work were!!! These blokes exploded onto the scene from the land down under and took the world by storm. The death knell came at the 1983 Grammy Awards when Men At Work took home the Best New Artist award. An award that has jinxed many new bands over years including Milli Vanilli Shelby Lynne, Evanescence , Amy Winehouse , Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor. The award is said to send even the most talented into obscurity. There are many new artists who have won the new artist awards and gone onto greatness such as Beyoncé, Nora Jones, Christina Aguilera. But who knows?

Besides their undeniable musical talent and musicianship, what always stood out about Men At Work to me was the way quite some of their songs did not treat topics concerning mental health and existential dread not allegorically or in sarcastic or cynical ways (as was the norm), but in a very personal and vulnerable fashion. Them being "Aussie blokes" always made it all the more special.
