One of the best saxophonists and flutists ever. Rest in Peace Greg Ham
@artvandelay8090
@artvandelay8090 3 ай бұрын
As compared to whom? First-year flutists and saxophonists can play the easy sax parts in Men At Work's simple pop music. Ever hear of Michael Brecker, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Charlie Parker, George Howard, Tom Scott, or David Sanborn? You oughta listen to all of those guys and many more before you shoot your mouth off with a hilarious comment like that. Greg Ham is not even on the radar as saxophonists go.

@@PresenceUponMe You take it elsewhere. I'll call out ignorant and stupid comments whenever I feel like it. People like you hate to hear how ignorant you are, to the point of resisting learning. @@artvandelay8090 Men at Work´s musician could play many instruments like in this video. Maybe the other saxophonists played different and more difficult genders, but Greg Ham could make history and gain fame with his own style.

Back in the late 90s my boyfriend at the time worked for a glass company. He was sent to install stained glass at Colin's house in Topanga Canyon. I tagged along that day to help. I remember Colin as very kind, down to earth, and funny. He showed us his Grammy he had sitting on top of his fireplace mantle. We spent several hours there. Definitely something I'll never forget.

Overkill was on the airwaves at a time when my life was turned upside down on every single angle. Song was reassuring to me. That dreamy "ghosts appear and fade away" always made me weepy. I was right at that point where childhood is over and facing the future with a destructing and shattered family was so hard.

In 83 I was an aspiring teen drummer. My family got cable TV for the first time. MTV brought these bands from all over the world to my living room. I was in love with Heavy Metal. But there was such talent in bands like this. I was like a sponge, learning everything I could from bands like this. Colin's voice is amazing.

If you weren’t alive in ‘82-‘83 it’s extremely hard to emphasize just how HUGE Men At Work were!!! These blokes exploded onto the scene from the land down under and took the world by storm. The death knell came at the 1983 Grammy Awards when Men At Work took home the Best New Artist award. An award that has jinxed many new bands over years including Milli Vanilli Shelby Lynne, Evanescence , Amy Winehouse , Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor. The award is said to send even the most talented into obscurity. There are many new artists who have won the new artist awards and gone onto greatness such as Beyoncé, Nora Jones, Christina Aguilera. But who knows?

Was at an outdoor free concert that featured Collin Hay. Passers by going about their business in the city had a passage way created between the stage and the crowd gathered to see Collin perform. An intoxicated indigenous woman gave Colin an piece of verbal advice as she walked by. Colin immediately stopped the performance and absolutely sprayed the grub of a woman. It was a sight to see.
