We are spoiled here, because Sweets Candies is the candy company that created them in the 1920's and they are in our own "backyard". They didn't create the chocolate covered edition until the 1990's though. Here in Utah, they are ALWAYS fresh and soft. They fly off the shelves too - both kinds.

I have friends that worked at a Jolly Rancher plant many years ago. Whenever they had to add the cinnamon oil to a batch, they had to suit up in full gear; body covering gear with full respirators to protect themselves, due to the powerful fumes. They said it would burn your skin instantly.

I have always loved cinnamon tic tacs. Wonderful. I love cinnamon gum, my grandmother always had cinnamon gum in her purse. She loved it as well. I think the spicy taste is the best. I will get the cinnamon mints if they are at the store to when I need to replace my breath mints. Yum. And yes, Cam needs to try just cinnamon, to know why it is paired with sugar .

I love chili with a bit of cinnamon, brown sugar, and dark unsweetened chocolate.. Along the lines of Cincinnati chili, I suppose. The cinnamon seems to really bring out the flavor of the meat, beans etc.

When I make pancakes, waffles, or French toast I like to use cinnamon (I do still use nutmeg when making French toast tough). Cinnamon sugar toast or in oats is really good. I'll add a little to hot cocoa or cappuccino too. You can coat apple slices in a cinnamon sugar blend then bake in oven, it's pretty good too. I also use cinnamon in a chicken dish I make sometimes.

Streusel is crumbles in German and a Strudel is a German/Austrian dessert. Most common is Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) and it is sort of a roll made with a special strudel dough or puff pastry (sometimes yeastdough) with a filling of apples, raisins, cinnamon, sugar and some other stuff. My Mom puts some curd-lemon cream in too and so do I, but as far as I know that is not original. It is yummy though... ;) And the whole thing has to be drowned in vanilla sauce. :)

Fun fact, cinnamon is actually tree bark. Real, peeled off the tree and dried bark. The tree fields smell sooooooooooooo good. Almost makes the air spicy if you breath back too hard.

Back in the 80's, it was popular for kids to soak tooth picks in cinnamon oil, let them dry, then bring them to school and chew on them during the day. Not swallow, of course. Just chew. It was such a big thing that some students would make a bunch and sell them to other kids.

Try Cinnamon French toast. ingredients sliced bread, 2 raw eggs, powdered cinnamon and butter. Crack the raw eggs and dump them onto the plate, mix in the cinnamon in a generous amount then dip the sliced bread on both sides. Butter a frying pan and place the covered slice of bread into the pan on med heat. Once the egg on the bread is cooked take out and put on a new plate cover in syrup and enjoy.

Yesss! My nana makes cinnamon candy every year around the holidays, and on Christmas I do a cinnamon roll cake pop bar(basically it’s just cinnamon roll cake pops, with icing kept warm in the crock pot to dip them in, and whatever toppings you wanna put on them). My whole family loves it!
