I think one of the considerations missing from this discussion is the fact life insurance doesn’t cover pre-existing terminal illnesses. So if she got life insurance after being diagnosed then they probably wouldn’t be covered anyway

It is the way the Red Woman tried to dissuade people from getting life insurance 🙄 yes, you often have to pay monthly, however the premiums don't have to be high. There are policies that literally require you to pay £10-£15 pounds a month. That is it smh. Cancel the Netflix and Uber Eats orders and get insurance. Relying on family is a hit and miss, always try to have a contingency in place

It's out of order to say "it's normal" for a woman to be a single parent. For a woman who is a first time parent it's as normal as it is for any man, women aren't just automatically going to know how to be a single parent, especially if ahe had her partner around to help her out to begin with and the same goes for a man so it isn't just normal. The only thing is that women might get used to it quicker. Also working women who make a certain amount of money aren't just going to get government help so that one goes out of the window too and even single fathers can claim benefits too, they just either don't know they can or are too prideful to.

Women are socialised to be nurturers, it's not natural for us all. But if we're socialised to be primary carers, then that might influence things like court decisions over custody/ benefits. It's also probably why it's so "normal" for women to be single parents because society expects we'll adjust faster to the role.

I kinda get where cookies coming from tbh. I see it a lot where people are not responsible with their time and money but then will expect their friends/family to pick up the pieces when things go left. As a friend, of course you should want to help. However, in reality (sometimes) you created the mess yourself. It’s real to step in as a friend but it’s also real to say I don’t want to help you.
