I hate being short, this surgery gives me hope. I hope that it becomes cheaper. It's easy to say "don't do it" when you are 6' tall. This procedure works well, it makes your taller and if it is properly done, you recover well, there are a lot of videos about it.

Yeah it’s a really bad form of discrimination. Really what it comes down to is, they want men who are biologically (naturally) tall, and if you make yourself tall thru surgery, they view you like an imposter or a cheater. They feel you “cheated” or “bypassed” their selection mechanisms and it pisses them off. This is why I strongly believe that if you’re going to do this surgery, the only people that should know about it is your wife, and nobody else. Not even your close family members, because if word gets out, you just won’t get the same respect as if you say that you had a late growth spurt It’s a great surgery though. I plan on getting it in like 1 year

I'm a cancer survivor. When I was a teenager the cancer and chemo stunted my bone growth, so I'm now 5'5. It sucks being a short man in the USA. I'm taking less seriously, it's a big disadvantage in dating, I have constant dysmorphia. Even the people who are all about "body positivity, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes" will dismiss my issues or make fun of me for being short. I may be cancer free, but society treats my height like cancer. If I had the money, I would do this surgery in a heart beat.

I'm sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad you survived cancer. I'm a tall person myself, and I have short friends, and I'll admit my short friends get treated with a disadvantage and being tall is a privilege. For my short friends dating is hard, not impossible. I also can't stand the hypocrisy of these so called feminist who will shame men for their height while preaching body positivity it's bull sh*t. In the USA also, short men get paid less, and suicide rate in higher, and height dysmorphia is even a big thing among transgender men, but Heightism isn't taken seriously in society, and it's a real shame.

I’m 5’5” and I have always wanted to do something like this in the past but now that I’m older I’m just trying to be the best me that I can be. I’m working out, lifting weights, squatting and deadlifting heavy weights. Nothing is free and to give up your peak athletic ability for 2 inches is not worth it. Plus there is always the chance of a complication and becoming disabled or damaged. It sucks being short but just make up for it by working on everything else. Work harder at work, work harder in the gym, work harder in the social setting and make everyone else jealous of the amazing things you can do.

To all the people reading this, yeah I'm here bc I think of this aswell, but after many years of being overwhelmed by my insecurities, I came with this advice. It it really you're height that bothers you, or is it *your image of yourself?* Maybe is not bc your 5'7 is bc you don't know how to dress, or pick the right clothes for you, maybe if bc you're fat/skinny, maybe you have acne troubles, bad haircut, bad posture etc etc, and the height if just _another issue you find_ And trust me, I know what I feels like hearing a 6t/5'10 etc, saying *well I would like to he taller/ being tall isn't all good*, buddy we know, this isn't our first search on KZbin or Google, so before considering the pros and cons of the surgery, reconsider what's actually bothering you and what other solutions can be actually effective, less expensive and much less exhausting. I won't say my height bc i just want you to know, yes even if you 5'10 or 5'7 you still can feel that way and I got you, my advice remains, I been there.

Also I've seen this when women get a boob job or something everyone is like "wow , QUEEN . it's your body your choice and stuff" also breast implants are a cause of breast cancer but when a man is doing something like this . @@eddie9753 even if what you were saying is true, which it absolutely isn't, all of it is invalidated by the fact that males only impose beauty standards on women that are under their control. You can lose weight. You can take care of yourself and shave. You can't go to the height gym and grow taller beyond your genetic potential. Just look at the cover of any fitness magazine, the female body can be achieved with eating in a caloric deficit and some green tea and yoga. Male body will take 8 years of hardcore bodybuilding, anabolic steroids, extreme dehydration and carb recompensation. online dating sites' data show that 80% of women consider themselves to be above average and also rate 80% of males as below average. The idea that its males who impose unrealistic beauty standards on females is absolute bullshit. Every statistic, every piece of psychological evidence and meta analysis clearly show the opposite is true. On a related note, the dirtbike I'm sitting on in this photo required a lowered suspension and aftermarket parts to further lower it. I'm 5'11 so I get where you are coming from. Here is what I would suggest though. Anyone who has the money for this is obviously doing well at work. Think of the disposable income one would need for this. It's well in excess of $100k. You not only need work skills for that kind of money, but financial responsibility by which to build savings. If you have that kind of money, go travel overseas, preferably to a non-western country. Think Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Singapore, etc. If you've got work skills and can overcome the language barrier? You will be fine. Trust me, I was raised in Turkey and have travelled quite a bit. People in non-western countries are not nearly as focused on height as they are in the US or the UK.

At the end of the day nobody really cares and if they do ask yourself would you want that type of person in your life anyways. “Oh sorry your 2 inches too short.” Learn to accept yourself and find happiness in who you are. I recall my parents telling me to jump rope and engage in activities to increase my height when I was a kid. But I ignored them because I didn't find any reason to increase my height. I was of the opinion that I would be satisfied with whatever height I would have. Fast forward 20 years, I deeply regret not heeding their words. My cousin, whose parents are shorter than my dad, not only grew taller than his parents but beyond my height eventhough he started shorter than me at 8 year old by engaging in athletics. I wish my parents taught me how cruel and superficial this world was. Had I known this, maybe I could've avoided this surgery.. if I ever have children, I won't make the same mistake my parents did. I'll teach them the harsh realities of life so they can make better choices in their life.

Make no mistake this is invasive surgery considering the huge amount of pain it causes over a course of months, the use of the implant and the potential long term side effects. Inside edition reported that it takes months of physical therapy to stetch out the muscles to prepare for bone growth and this happens after the initial surgery. This David guy who's obviously had his fair share of surgery has also described it as the worst pain he's ever had.

5’7 is absolutely fine, don’t be self conscious about that. Genuinely, How much do you think 3 inches more height would actually change in your life? It honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Make sensible investments aimed at making yourself financially comfortable instead wasting it on an operation. That’ll return so much more to you and your loved ones than a few more inches of height would. Even better focus on improving your health and fitness, both physically and mentally. that’ll outweigh any advantage height can give you.
