I know they exaggerated this by putting a 40something Brolin in the role, but this really is how it was with people from the 1950s (and earlier). You can look at a picture of guys in their 30s and it looks like they are in their 60s. Between the smoke and the lack of sunscreen, people used to age much faster. Not to mention those that did more hard physical labor. Look at Cheers, if you're old enough to remember that. Cliff was 34 and Norm was 33 when it started. Barney Fife was 44 when that show *ended.* It's bizarre to people of my generation that still watched a lot of these shows in reruns. We can't fathom that we're a decade or more older than these people. Even when we look back at the photos of them.
