Men of Honor - Master Navy Diver (HD)

Later in the hospital, we see that Chief Sunday was indeed able to save the other diver, but doctors find that he has sustained a severe embolism in both lungs. This condition disqualifies Sunday from any more diving. Upon hearing this news, Sunday throws a fit, destroying some equipment in the hospital, and assaulting several of the staff. Carl is in attendance at the resulting disciplinary hearing, where Sunday is officially disqualified from further diving duty, and assigned to a training position. Carl, having seen Sunday's actions as heroic, is inspired and vows to become a Navy Master Diver.

You can tell Hanks hated that Pullman saluted Sunday and didnt throw the book at him. Pullman probably respected Sunday (and vice versa) but it seemed that Hanks gestured Pullman was past his time and old timers like Sunday needed to be put to pasture now that he is DQd from diving

Chief Sunday still got off easy. I can't blame him for being frustrated, but that outburst was out of line. If we did that in a store, we'd get banned from the store, if we're lucky. Commander was probably thinking "You a Master Diver?!", are you kidding?, you're lucky you're on the deck and not mopping latrines or peeling potatoes". Just how the times were then.

Forrest Gump did better salutes for sure. Why do they not make more effort? I was navy deep sea diver. The whole story diminished the legacy of Carl and tarnished the navy diver community. DeNiro character was totally BS.
