People in the comments don’t understand b/c they don’t even play golf, nor a member of a golf club! When I was younger I was a member of a country club and I couldn’t play at certain times and I couldn’t play in any of the events. It was not because I was too young, bad etiquette, bad golfer, or not enough woman. It was for the fact that I was a woman. I was actually a really good golfer. Even on Father’s Day I couldn’t play with my father because I was a daughter! My brother could play in just about all of them. He was only 2 years older than me. Their excuse were: “oh, the woman hold the men up” or “the members don’t want woman playing” Which I have been in several situations where the men were slow. If you are going to charge me a full membership I expect to get all of the privileges men get! This happened to me at 2 different ones in western PA

everyone in these clubs knows that it is not about golf. business deals are regularly struck on the green- so not allowing minorities (in the past, it's been jews and blacks) or women puts these people at am immediate disadvantage. only men who are racist/sexist would want to keep these clubs men-only. btw, by opening it up to women, it doesn't mean that the men are FORCED to hang out with women- it just means women are allowed to be there.
